HTC: What is the plan with maps?
« on: July 13, 2002, 04:40:33 PM »
Just curious what the plan is for maps? Are you staying with the pizza map indefinitely? If not, when is it changing? And to what? And how often? More importantly is this the size we should expect for all subsequent maps?

Go whatever route you figure is best, I just want to know what that is. Its coming up on another billing cycle and I'd like to make an informed decision, rather than a reactionary one.

I'm not about to close my account, having a lot of fun with the new bombing systems. The map is not to my complete liking but it's playable but it would be nice to know that possibly the other maps or new ones are on the way to add into a cycle. Even the best maps become boring if played all the time.

Very true.

Ahh..

Forgitabotit, it's the old beat your head against the wall scenario.

And I've just healed up from WB.

I'm going to go play a sniper on a map that NEVER changes :D

Golly, I _wish_ I was that spontaneous.  As you well know, humor takes quiet deliberation and planning.  A well crafted response to a wtticism can take weeks to compile, by which time, sadly, the subtlety and delivery window are often lost.

Er, kinda seems like a legitimate set of questions to me.

Ahhh, memories are so short.

The maps used to never change, then once a tour, then they spoiled us.  Its no big deal.  Get over it.  We will have new maps for everyone to squeak about soon enough.

Couldn't care less about rotating maps, thats not at all the point...well, it is if we stay with a less than desirable map indefinitely. Nevertheless, the last sim I flew regularily was AW in the early 90's. We stuck with the same map for 30 day rotations if I recall right. However, the gameplay was still good in those maps (well, for that era anyway).

To stay clear of the never ending map-slam, I'll reserve my comments as to what I think about the current map and the current state of gameplay. What HTC has planned for future map layouts (size primarily), however, is pretty important here. It tells us, the paying customers, what we can expect.

I'm all for hanging around and watching the maps evolve, assuming they revert back to a size better suited to the player base (i.e. closer to pre-1.10 map size), if that is the plan. If that's not the plan, that's cool too. I'd just like to know that sooner rather than in "two weeks."

Pretty simple request of HTC methinks. Just an update as to what their plans are.

HT will be adding a new map in 2 weeks. It will be the "soup and salad" map. CV's will now have to stave off pasta style letters and meatballs poseing as mines.Cherry tomatoes will be found in the salad section and will be able to be rolled into the soup in limited numbers to also be used as mines.
These will have a slight sembelance to the screens used in the game "Worms"
 Bon apetit:rolleyes:

Vortex asked a simple question. He didn't ask for your opinions or jokes. I assume the question was aimed at HTC. I'm sure we would all like to know what directon HTC is going with the map situation and future plans for the sim.
