MJHerman, what the jug was doing is probably vertical scissors. he was trying to suck you into slowing down with him, in which case he could have killed you. the jug is a "weak" plane down low, but it has a great slow speed handling, as opposed to the p-51 which can stall nastily.

but I dont wan't to blow out all the p-47 secrets... :)

If what he was doing was a vertical scissors, it sure was an ugly one, but from a tactical point of view makes a lot of sense.

Last few flights in the Pony I've disciplined myself to not pulling back the throttle at all to try and follow cons who start flopping around.  Result is that I am getting a lot more assists than kills, but I'm also not dying quite as much.

jug seems to have a very "nice stall" Frenchy for one has an uncanny ability to use some kind of vertical oblique in those situations. Amazing how he can avoid giving you a decent shot but if you get sucked in can latch on long enough to hose you.
Awful dangerous plane in the right hands in that situation.

I've been really liking the D30 recently, but only where I can get a lot of altitude and come booming in.  I won't try and turn with anything in it unless I always have an out, but I just love those 8 .50s.

I also don't feel too bad about taking HO's in it if a con wants to be brave or dumb enough to plow into my nose with all that firepower.  Just love how they go "boom" with all that firepower.

Still can't get it to "flop" around though :)

I read a post a long time ago the said to record your
fights to see how far out your kills actually were and
set your convergence for that distance.

I made a big diffence for me...now i just have to learn

Always cheat; always win. The only unfair fight is the one you lose.
