More Strategy + More Control = A mission based system

I was stumbling around the Internet earlier and came across MS's new beta game "Allegiance". I downloaded it and started play.. the graphics are ok, the ships are blah but you know whats really cool..the mission based system.

People can pilot fighters/bombers whatever and they are given orders (although they dont have to follow the orders) by a commander. The commander is responsible for:

allocating research, buying new ships, and building bases

Something like this would be so very nice for AH. If we had a ranking/point system people would gain more responsibilities (sounds like wwIIo doesn't it  ) once your at a certain level you can:

- purchase fighters/bombers (i.e. plane attrition IS implemented)
- set mission plans for different planes you see on the map (i.e. attack field f4, defend HaHa's c47   etc..)
- decide what aircraft should be sent to what bases for reinforcements.. "enhance?" bases with bigger/better ack

Different commanders on the same side could be responsible for different sectors. This is "similar" to wwIIo except it doesn't try to do "everything".. it just makes the game a hell of a lot more fun, organized and adds some seriously needed strategy/mission elements. Imagine what could be planned, 20xspits flying in formation to a common target, 5xb17+10xescorts bombing the smitherenes out of countries, huge groups of fighters duking it out in the skies.
