I have just finished a Euroland morning AH session. And a most enjoyable session it was too. The highlights were:
- Saving a medium sized field from capture (killed 2xLVT);
- Flattening a vehicle field which was captured moments later by another Bish of whose presence I had been unaware;
- Flattening a town ready for capture (but a B17 got the carrier off which we were operating
- Attempting the capture of another vehicle field.
I know that when there are less than 100 people online, the number of airfields greatly exceeds the number of arena participants! Perhaps later on we will have a smaller map, or one with less fields.
What I have begun to notice in the course of these strat missions is that I’m beginning to have a long list of like minded guys that I can work with. This is a far cry from the situation that existed when I joined AH in November.
Have you noticed the current postings about abusive language and bad behaviour? I have, but not only that, I notice that these vitriolic exchanges always take place between furballers, or in furball situations. The strat guys, on the other hand, are courteous to eachother and also to the enemy. In the fourth of the scenarios listed above, there were only two of us working on the vehicle field, and our timing was off. We didn’t get the goon there in time, and the VH came up. An M16 killed me as I tried to strafe. Did I call him a “fuggin retard” or other mindless term of abuse? I did not. I congratulated the guy for being on the ball to pop up as soon as the hangar came back up. And he saluted me in reply.
The distance between the fields means being able to do strat missions without being jumped by Typhoons or LA7s. So nice to know that while the strat gentlemen are planning the next target, some guys are desperately scouring the arena to find a furball – ROFLMAO!
