These days I have been examining a lot of old WW2 guncamera film and documentaries.
I have noticed a curious effect that happens in all straffing runs, and in some aerial shooting... ricochetting.

This phenomenon happens not only when a projectile hits an angled hard surface, but also when buried into dirt or water whith an angle of 15-20 degrees or less, actually bending its trajectory upwards. Some sims that reproduce this effect, are those from Microprose, such as 1942 The Pacific Air War and 1943 The European Air War, giving a credible atmosphere to strafing runs.

As every projectile is modeled in AH and all object are 3D modelled, I wonder if it would be possible to reproduce this effect on the sim, and recreate a certainly different atmosphere, apart from the rest of the sims.

Greetings from Spain

My mum picked up a dandy series called "Warbirds or WWII" at Costco! Full of gun cams.In fact just last night I saw a really cool 51 gun cam smoking a ME 262!

Our local flight museum sells a great series that takes you from pre-flight thru landing. (no gun cams, dont know the name of series)

The Air Force on-line archives, History channel on-line, I've seen lots of gun cam stuff around.

Zeno's warbird video drive-in has a wide array of real-time streaming videos about WWII a/c.  Connects to it vary with time of day, and the stableness of your ISP connection of course.
Good stuff though.

 www.zenoswarbirdvideos.com

Enjoy.

P.S.: -Towd, They have a whole section devoted to the P-38.

I know I should speak of other sims BUT.... (even this bad one did something right) MSCFS (great documentations in the book too) they talk about differant planes attacking tanks and if presented with a rear shot they would often aim BEHIND the tank to bounce the shot in the soft ill armored engine compartment. (I owned this game a total of 2 days long enough to try it hate it but read the book )
