Bush is doing a good job actually (he fought his own brother on offshore drilling rights. I remember oil globs on my beach when I was a kid. I don't want them back!), but to hold ALL teachers accountable based on the FCAT is a farce at best. It tests reading and math for grades 3-10 and writing in grades 4 and 8 I think. How can you hold a social studies and science teachers accountable based on that? Remember, school grades determine funding, which affects all teachers, not just the math and english/reading teachers. It's a good start, but it's a half-assed one, IMO. Though, it'd be nice to be the founder of the companies that produce FCAT (and similar test) prep software. School districts buy it up like mad, and it does help to increase FCAT scores. The little kids go into the computer labs for extra work on math and reading... during their science and history classes.
