Fix my VOX, Win a Prize....

Muck,

Open your box, give it a good dust cleaning inside by either blowing it out with some appropriate can of stuff or vacuumng it out carefully. Take out your sound card, clean off the leads with a  pencil eraser, reseat the card ... making sure it's in nice a tight, and see if that helps. You could possibly have a bad connect/noisey connect between your soundcard and MB.

Good Luck!

Well, no dice, but I think we're close.

So far, I think the answer is going to be either Creamo or Brendos, though I have not tried pulling the card and cleaning it yet. (That's the last resort)

Turtle beach has NO idea about Impeedence or what OHMs their cards require. (Tech support there is horrendous)

So I've got a new Radio Shack Mic I'm going to try tonight. If this works, the contest will be a tie between Creamo and Brendo, so you guys will get one prize each. If not, it's back to the drawing board.

Thanks for all the help so far, guys.

It's really appreciated.

Stop buying the same mic.
Go to a real computer store, find a cheap boom mic, and try that out.

Make sure you're using a mic meant for a computer.

This will always fix you up, well to the best of your equipments ability.

Download and install roger wilco.  Run the setup routine.  Once you have completed settiing up to Roger Wilco's specs you will be all done.

I do not believe the trouble is your headset/Mic.  I also use a headset from radio shack and I am told I sound great (and I was originally using the motherboards onboard AC97 sound as well)

This is the headset I use:

http://www.radioshack.com/product.asp?catalog%5Fname=CTLG&category%5Fname=CTLG%5F003%5F012%5F007%5F000&product%5Fid=33%2D1119

I have since upgraded to a SB Live 5.1 card it also works fine with that.   I have also used it on my Dell Inspiron 8000, it worked very well with that also.  I also used it on an Old Compaq with it's onboard sound.  In most of those cases however, it did not work right away - but did when I ran the Roger Wilco setup utility.

Creamo:

I used to have a guy we'd play online with who sounded just like that. I told him to get a $5 - $10 hoopty mic. "But mine costs alot!" just like that hag in the movie "Misery" and the typing paper.

Come to think of it, I'm sure it was a radio shack model.

*I bought a $10.00 Radio Shack Unidirectional Mic today. Problem solved.

Winner #2

Brendo:

MUCMAW, the problem is not your computer, it is your microphone.

You mic is of the wrong 'impeedance' for your sound card.

Please refer to your sound card manual for what Ohm impedence microphone is reccomended. Regretably you may need to purchase a new one. For AH, a $5 mic is fine.

*The new Mic has a different impedence level than the old one, so it's too tough to tell who won the contest.

So in fairness, Both winners get a prize. Since Creamo posted first, he has his choice.  Creamo, send me an e-mail with your name, Address, and prize choice. Brendo, Do the same except, choose 2 prizes, with the first being the one you'd rather have.

Thanks for all the help.

Now...How do I get this ugly WHITE mic to match my cockpits Black instrument panel.....Hmmmm NEW CONTEST!!! (Kidding)

Thanks again guys!!

Prize choice? Wow, just think if flight crews were so generous.

hmmmm.

Ever since my mail-order bride arrived in the states, with back rubs everyday, even my prized plastic backscratcher I won at the carnival ring toss has been boxed up for storage. I really don't need anything so I will default to Brendo for explaining the technicalities of the discrepancy.

Slapshot, that's what I needed. Now how do I print the full layout on a 8X11 regular sheet of paper in my printer?

btw, how come no one has modded that portable desk/flightsim furniture cockpit thing to be more like WWII planes? I'm guessing just the paintjob and the actual cutout/angle of the seat back would suffice. Like to see pictures if someone does. At first I thought it was a insane idea, but now I'm thinking it would be just hilarious to be laid out in that thing whipping it up on line not to mention the looks you'd get from everyone. Plus I'd demand anyone that comes over to get in it and fly.
