*THIS* is what I don't like...
« on: July 23, 2002, 04:20:04 AM »
Oh well, we tried with the AK-Pizza map. It wasn't perfect, and far from it, but it did make a new type of mission possible. So we're back to furballs etc. I'm not going to denounce that because it seems to be what a lot of people want. So be it.

My picture shows a typical scene in AH - pic taken Monday 22nd July. (I changed my con colour to yellow to make them easier to see in desert terrain, but decided to keep that colour scheme) The thing is, in situations like the one shown, getting killed means absolutely nothing, and achieving kills means even less.  Just look at it - 10 v. 1.   And yet the thing is, some of the town was still up, but I was the only guy doing anything about it.

I'm sure that even Lazs and his band of pro-furballers would not approve of this. I popped this F6F on the way back to the CV, so I guess I'm tarred with the same brush. But what about people who just hover overhead an enemy field, waiting for vulch opportunities, and kill the same guy over and over and over again? I logged off to have dinner with Tomato, and when I came back more than an hour later, we still had not captured this field.

Is this the step forward the anti-pizza brigade wanted? Is this better that having strategic missions which the furballers find difficult to detect? Was capture of this field avoided simply to maximise vulch opportunities? I had finished the town off, and there was ample opportunity for someone to get an LVT in. Seems like that was not on our list of things to do... :(

If you see your name in this pic, don't feel bad. I'm not blaming individual players, but rather the gameplay engendered by the mapset and various game parameters.

your 100% right.. i hate the furball after about 10 mins..it gets real boring..give these guys a map 2 sectors wide to go play in,  oh wait we already got one dueling arena.

not everyone wants to fur ball..them that do, well thats great and i have no beef with that, its perfectly ok..but to furball you dont need the pizza map.. but some of us liked it..

what erks me is the way the furballers went on and on, on the bbs saying "this map is killing AH" blaa blaa blaa..

bring back the pizza (tone down the colours) and let furballers come and furball in there or go to the DA which is made for furballing..:D

The fleet was just too far out of range to launch LVT's. When it got close in a goon had arrived and this field was ours. It was good that these guys stayed on station to ensure the capture  was successful.

I hate furballs. I hate grabing to 10K in a P47 to find a Spit at 15, have to dive away from him because he's escorted by a LA7... Loose them and have to come back upo for the same scenario.

Need to have faith not to fly an "ubber speed plane" or a "Ubber turnfighter" to survive.

But looks like it's what people feel good about.

VOSS -at the time I took that picture, the CV was about a 1 minute flight from overhead the airfield.

There is allready a multiplier (more likely a divider ) for perk point when  not landing ...

I think everyone knows that Straffo. I think it is 1.25 x perks for safe landings.

But that is not what Frenchy is talking about.

Like wotan said, that's not a furball. Not enough enemy and they are trying to capture a base.

umm - did I say it was a furball?  Think I said I didn't like it, but went on to talk about profurballers.
