TA Huh, Good God Ya'll What's It Good For?
« on: July 24, 2002, 10:22:36 AM »
Last night our squad attempted to use the TA to work on bombing skills.  I periodically posted a message on 100, "Please do not engage Lancasters in training".  Earlier in the day I was working on a training plan and was attacked by a 262 and then accidently rammed by same after asking the pilot to please stay away.  Must have been a fighter pilot from China?

At one point, a pilot aptly named "Turkey" told me to shut-up and stop broadcasting the fact that we did not wish to be engaged.  Meanwhile a pilot named Afalcon shot down one of our numbers.  The logic presented to us by the idiots in attendance was that we were bombing their field (in fact we were bombing factories) and the they would bomb our headquarters if we didn't stop our bomb runs.

It's obvious that there were some special needs people in the TA.  The question begs to be asked of why no one is there to oversee what goes on?  How about a chance to report these disruptive orafices so they can be locked out of what is supposed to be a safe spot to train?  The TA does not appear to be designed for slope browed dimwits to come in and attack people trying to invest valuable time training.  Or is it?  Perhaps these loud mouth twits that look for dates at family reunions could possibly be limited to the MA where you are supposed to shoot people down, or would the fact that people shoot back create too much of a distraction?

. . . . . been making a direct run to the TA for a long time. Maladroits who can't get a kill in the playpen (MA) and certainly don't stand a chance against the elitists in the CT ;)  go to the TA to be noticed and see their name in lights. The logical solution to keep it a pure training environment is to disable damage and collisions.

AH TA is a joke, one of the reasons I left the Training corp (Lack of Trainer authority to eject those individuals like Turkey that don't abide by the rules)

When our squad trains in there, we quietly go to a corner where we hopefully will not be noticed..and if we are, we assign a couple of "Squad cappers" that take care of any intrusions.

Yeah, that's happened to me many-a-time.  You declare that you are TRAINING and not engaging...no use, you still get attacked and the same ole same ole happens again.

From what I can see, Hening, there are no consequences.  No one monitors that room, and if you do go through the hassle to film or report it, some other moron does the same thing.

Thing is, with bombers and such, you want to train over an enemy base to see damage, etc...you can't do that on friendly turf in a remote corner of your own map.

TA is the alternate MA.  When the MA goes down, do they hit the CT?  Heck no.

Had the same troubles in the Warbirds Training Arena from time to time. AH has a larger player base though, and so there are that many more "little boys" to deal with who cant buy a kill in a regular arena, so they go to TA to be "noticed". How special. Trouble is, I think HTC would end up spending 1/2 their time sending out warning emails and reviewing films to even try to make a dent in the problem. We really need TA monitors with some clout. Oh well, it will never happen.

All you TA lurkers if you are reading this: You are the biggest dweebs in the entire sim world. Go play X-Wing by Lucasarts and leave us be when we train. Losers.

Cheers.

Of course, you could always email a film/screenshot of said people or even call HTC (if it's during business hours) to take action against the perpetrators.  But that's just crazy talk.
btw, posting screenshots/films on the message board is no guarantee that anyone from HTC will see it.

and how many times should people have to do that Superfly?  The TA has been anything but a training arena for a few months now.  I'm curious as to why HTC would allow that to become the status quo.

Yes.....

The training arena has evolved into its own little MA.

How about just disabling radar and dar bars in the TA?  Then it would be easier to hide from the dweebs, while you could still communicate privately about your location with those you want to train with.

Seems like the dweebs would disappear if they can't find anyone to play with

Superfly

Problem is its not just ONE, its MANY.  Report one, fine, then send film...then its another, then another, and another, etc.  After having to report someone a few times, its a hassle.

The room needs some sort of moderator(s) to help it be what its intended to be...a place to practice.

Exactly. We will end up sending freaking films to HTC every time we have a session there.

Anyways, I will be forwarding the film that Skyfox refers to, and we will see, for what its worth.

Btw I logged into the arena the other night to see the country channel full of remarks like "cons at A9" ect ect...absolutely total disregard for the TA setup.
