About last night...

Kudos to the MAW boys for leading a Knight charge across the southern frontier of the map last night.  We started collecting Bishop bases like Pamela Anderson collects needles.  The drive got stalled at a10 - the one of the two last bases owned by the Bishops - because the Rooks decided to help defend it.  Had we captured it, Knightland would've won the reset (after losing the previous map), just like if Pamela Anderson had one more needle, she wouldn't have gotten Hepatitis from Tommy Lee.

Also, kudos to the Bishops for digging themselves out of a hole and launching an offensive strike against the Rooks along the western frontier, splitting the Rook empire into two pieces and giving us Knights the southern piece while the Bishops drove northward (clever strategy to have the Rooks fight on 3 fronts: 2 against the Knights and 1 against the Bishops).

Just like the song by Lincoln Park: "we tried so hard, and got so far, but in the end, it didn't even matter..."

Yup, had fun flying at A10 last night

Dumb move of the night:  Tried to learn the new sight system for the bombers.  3 Lanc sorties, and I dont think I did any damage to ground targets, but definately drew a lotta cons away  :)

(What's with this "reverse" bomb sight?  I went into the bombsight and now Im going in reverse?  Couldnt hit a thing  :( )

Also, a big "Attaboy!" to HUNHntr for his one-man defense of the northern airbases from Rook attack while 90% of the Knight forces were tangled up in the cauldron over A10.

Way to go, sir!

No, dumb move of the night: Going after A10 rather than the CV.

One is a large airfield, the other can be killed by 4 JABOs.  Either one gets the reset.

You do the math.

It was a great night.  The reset would have been nice, though, particularly since it was against the BisRook(tm) Alliance [1]  :)

From listening to the radio traffic while all this was going on (I was running a formation of Lancasters to Bishop HQ, and watched the Bishop fields get rolled up in front of me as I flew in, wondering if I'd make it before or after the reset), and there was a lot of 'Where is the CV?' and 'Find the CV' calls; apparently, nobody could find the CV to kill it; when I finally landed and logged, they were still looking for it.

In retrospect, it's an interestingly sphincter-tightening sensation to be lined up on final for landing knowing that if someone manages to get a stick of paratroops into the city at A10, or sink the CV, I'm going to be sitting here with nowhere to go when the field turns hostile and starts shooting at me.

I had to pause for a little while between P4 and the initial assault on A10 (rolling out new software at work; we do that in the evenings).  When I got back I upped an F4U-1D from 18 and found the CV in less than 15 minutes.  Several people already "knew" where it was; A19 was strobing with no green bar.  Sure enough...right off the coast with a 10k cap consisting of two F4Us.

We had a heck of a steam-roller built up in that part of the map, I think the momentum was to continue going after fixed, hard targets rather than upping a strike force and looking for the soft target.

It's not a big deal; I play to have fun, and fun I had.  I wish I'd gotten a chance to get into the furball at A10; from my one-wheel goon it looked like a blast in the three minutes I got to see it before some rude bish cut my right wing off.

Resets are nice, but I don't get my panties in a wad over them.  The level of cooperation was amazing to see, and made playing a lot of fun.   to everyone (ok, even the bish)  :D

Y'all kniggits better go see a doctor.

The sheep we left yah were the diseased rook specimens left on site after the last reset... we drank all the beer, stripped the lanscape of rook trailer parks... in other words we left nothin of intrest for a knit when we pulled out north thru rookland.

:D

BS, Hang.

The Bish pulled out of Rookland only because they couldn't handle the high property taxes.
