And I say thank GOD!!!!!  Look-AH is best overall Flt.Sim. out there-bar none.  I luv it.  In my opinion-however-it has always had one thing missing: a sense of purpose.  What do I mean-airpower's bottom line purpose is to effect events on the ground.  No other reason to have airpower.  None.  Airpower is not for perk points and furballing.  It's to move mud and win the ground.  Beyond the simple kill the city and drop troops thing-the MA is just one big gang-bang fest w/ perk whoring selfish kill stealing pilots.  It's ok and fun but after my first few months in that arena I longed for something more.  There were times when "famous" mission generals were logged on and were able to organize my country into one or more effective missions.  This was always a treat but sadly happened only once and a while.  I tried the CT and really liked it but when I logged on the numbers were always slim and it was/is only a glorified dueling arena.  Now w/ a mission arena...organization, planning, timing IN ADDITION to pilot skill and aircraft design will win battles just (like real life)...it will force even the country jumping-perk potatos that take easy airfield's and vulch until the last newbie has been killed to change.  The tactic's in the MA are about as far from real life as u can get.  Say we got 100 Knights logged on at one time.  25 are newbies that don't know what the hell they are doing, another 25 are going off doing milk runs off on their own.  The remaing 50 or so may be in squads w/ loose pockets of organization here and there....maybe-and if we are real lucky we got a mission going up w/ three people......BORING!!!!!! I THINK THE IS THE BEST THING TO HAPPEN TO ACES HIGH!!!!!

Until AH switches to an arcade FM with porked physics, only then will it come close to WW2OL.  
On a side note, has anyone tried Day of Defeat 3.0 yet?

you must be mistaken.    I have it on the best athority that the CT allways had 10% or more of the number of players that the MA did and that it really only needed a fraction of that since the gameplay was so superior and polite and welll.... action packed.     Sure... the "missun arena" may be a little less action packed than that and there may be a little more waiting around but... jeeze how much fun can a person stand anyway?

lazs , i really don't understand you , i thought you'd be happy to get rid of all them nasty "strat" guys that keep messing up your 2 base furball fun.  Unless of course , your the type of person who just likes to complain about things.

Yes  - i`ve been playing DoD3.0 for the last week (in between following the antics of the last 4 in the BB3 house)...whats it like?

Yep, only new thing is the laser-no recoil M3 Greasegun and an awesome Axis gun, the Fg42. But those are only in the para maps :(

It's about to become my new addiction, I love the para maps and the cutscenes.

been playing DOD since 1.8 or so....lot easier to hop on and go then AH...just havent had the time recently. 3.0 is a blast, para maps are outstanding. Funny thing hearing the whinning bout largely non existant hacks in AH....then you go to DOD:eek:

There was no 1.8.  I've been playing since 1.2 and I got 3.0 last week.  There are SO many custom models on the dayofdefeatmod message boards under the custom models forum.  It's great.  There are servers that have the para weps on normal maps such as Remember the Mainz:209.145.157.64:27015, and Elend 3.0:12.2.86.60:27015.  Enjoy because I sure as hell am :)

Well, no, you are not an "observer."  An observer would note that at the time you fly (Evenings PST) the CT has low (or zero) population.  You don't do that though, what you do seem to do is to locate any thread with the string "CT" in and make it a point to say something snide in it.  In doing so you are actively attempting to discourage the use of the CT or you would not bother to waste your time posting the "observation."

And the thing is Lazs, what you are doing is counter productive on two counts:

1) You don't like the strat guys, yet for some reason you seem to want to discourage them from trying out a different arena where they, the strat guys, would be very welcome.  Don't you want them gone?  Can't you see how you are hurting yourself there?

2) By constantly going off on some trivial topic like the number of people that frequent an arena you do not make use of, you leave a distint impression that what you have to say is probably not worth reading.  This means that topics that you do care about, such as having a single large with early war planes separated by distance from late war planes, will not carry the weight they would have otherwise.  It's signal to noise Lazs and you are 80% noise.

You come off as being an intelligent person Lazs.  I can't understand why you can't seem to grasp that your constant CT whines only diminish that.

I do not claim any special intelligence nor any particular signal to noise ratio.   I don't care in the least if you think what I have to say is worth reading or if you like or dislike my ideas.

I might however, suggest that you not read anything I write if it upsets you.

 I like the idea. The problem with furballers ignoring the bombers could be circumvented by having them pay dearly for allowing their countries industrial facilities getting bombed, say:

- damaged industries won't put out low ENY planes anymore, escalating to a point where they get only < 40 planes;

- fuel tanks, ammo bunkers and barracks get depleted by the planes starting from an airfield. They get refilled by supply convoys/trains/barges, but the rate of resupply drops as industries sustain damage;

- base object rebuild times are linked to industry damage.

This would force the countries to have a mix of missions going on, escorted bomb raids to make the other's time miserable, and defensive patrols/intercepts to uphold their well-being.
