I had a guy running back and forth behind a boulder on the pizza map as I tried to strafe him, for about 5 minutes.  Was a blast.

Oh yeah, and you chute shooters are evil.

I wonder if shooting chutes affects your gunnery?

It is my understanding that your score is determined in part by a multiplier that rewards X amount for bailing succesfully versus being killed.

If you shoot someones chute, you're actively denying them a large percentage of whatever perks they might have gotten for their sortie up to being shot.

Explain again why they should thank you?  Your argument is faulty.

So are you arguing that I shouldn't shoot down a Tempest because of the poor guy who will loose his perks? That's a new twist.

(Isn't actively denying people of perk points what this game is all about?)

At any rate, there's no diff in perks between a "killed" and a "bailed". I'm not sure if there's a slight difference in scored points.

OK so they don't thank me. I kill them anyway.

Chute shooting is a dreadful thing. It's most likely one of the worst, morally speaking, acts one can do.

Thus, our PR officer, lazs, has directed that all BK's strive to shoot all chutes within visible range, providing we can beat him to them.

What if the pilot gave you a good fight, would you still shoot their chute?  If you really enjoyed a furball, it seems pretty dirty to actively try and take whatever perks they did earn away.  Alternatively, it would be the equivalent of shouting 'HA HA!  I shot you down, you suck!' instead of 'Good fight, '

Samiam, you are incorrect.

From this link:

Death Multipliers

Landed       1.0
Discoed      .25
Bailed         .5
Ditched       .75
Captured    .4
Killed          .25
Crashed     .25

Bailed has a perk multiplier of .50 and killed has a perk multiplier of .25, so your assertion that killing a chute has no effect on them is false.  Do you argue w/ HTC about that?

I don't want them to thank me.  I want them to die.  One incentive for me to shoot a chute is exactly because I know people bail to preserve points.  There's nothing historical about it.  It isn't a life or death thing, it's a points thing.  Most of these people squeak because they lost points when their chutes died, not because it's historically monstrous to strafe chutes.

And thus, whenever and wherever possible... chutes die for my amusement alone.

It's a game.  They'll learn to deal with such setbacks or move on to something more their speed.  I hear Candy Land is fun.

These are score multipliers, not perk point multipliers. There's a 1.25 perk multiplier for landing. That's it.

Be it perk points or score, my point still stands. Shooting them down in the first place is impacting their score. Should I not do that?

Given your sentiments, I can only assume that you are never in that flock chasing me trying to rob me of my perks whenever I fly a TEMP into a furaball. For that I thank you!

In answer to your other question (and this you aren't going to like): It's pretty rare that I actually kill the chute of someone I just shot down. Rather, it's usually some random chute that I come across (or that has been anoying me out of the corner of my eye) :D

I never shoot chutes just because so many people find it so objectionable. I do however love to buzz em and make em think I'm gonna.
