A new low in the Main Arena balance
« on: August 13, 2002, 02:15:25 AM »
This is the worst balance I have ever seen in the MA.  I took this at 12:14AM Pacific Standard Time.

This is stupid.

look at the base count...  reset is fairly imminent, many rooks logged off due to this reason, plus the time (being late nite, USA, east and central, and still late-prime, west coast). i notice lately a lot of knights on around this time, must be california boys.

i'd normally be rooks in this situation, but lately i've noticed a severe lack of intelligent flying on rook's part, strategical flying that is.  i'm taking a leap and assuming that many rooks just prefer to furball and could care less about bases.  i'm usually that way, but i do like to at least fly effectively rather than just be a lemming to the closest furball.
Surrounded by suck and underwhelmed with mediocrity.
I'm always right, it just takes some poepl longer to come to that realization than others.
I'm not perfect, but I am closer to it than you are.

And what do the Knits do with those numbers?

They use Kamikaze tactics.

I was one of the Rook defenders at A20 when a wave of 10-15 P-47s came in and simply Kamikazed the VH and FHs.  They didn't even try to survive.  None of the 5 or so Rook defenders went down in the attack.  That kind of crap is about as low as it gets.

You have some sort of Japanese signature and you complain about kamikaze tactics?  :D

Yup

For the 10-15 P47s they probley wanted to kill the FH cus the way we were doing things wasnt working, and you had 20 for a VERY long time I understand from others on knights.

So, west coast Americans all joined the Knit Coalition now?

What really IS the matter when it comes to US time zones anyway? People flying in that time zone move in herds? The herd now all suddenly moved to Knits or something?

 ...

Me I'm a aggravtive jerk, but seeing respectful and calm pilots go nuts in frustration from the attack of the Hoarde makes you think a lot about what the MA has come to.

Remember, the most effective form of competition, is destroying competiton itself with monopolization. Maybe that's the silent "pact" going on inside the MA, eh?

Knights have always suicided. You can count on it in fact. It's very effective and there's almost no penalty for it.

early eastern time zone is usually

60 bish.....30 knights.....30 rooks

rooks an bish usually combine to attack knights.

thats when most bish prepare to win there resets.

Hello,
You say it is because a reset is coming, only thing was it was like that from 11 pm eastern on.
The rooks were in the favored side of mindnao and karnak is right about the tatics used.
We (rooks) tried for hours to get 21 back, but after several hours we were getting rolled on both sides
While we were defending 20 from 21 the knights made a brilliant over the water attack and grabbed 19 in a matter of a couple of minutes.  After that it was all over, the port and the whole seaboard fell quickly.
Last night was the first night that I witnessed a heavy inbalance, while the rooks are use to being outnumbered, it is reaching the point that it is unplayable.
I know of several rook players that are leaving to join the bishes, something about being the gangbanger instead of the gangbangee.
What is the solution here?  All rooks should just join the knights or bishes. then it will be a land grab in MA between the two remaining countries.

 :p :p :p

*snicker*

And this is the kind of play that lasz2 wants to preserve with his fanatical insistence that level bombers not be able to affect fighter operations in any way.

If I ever needed proof that the transfinite supply of aircraft at fields and the ability of pilots to take off again without consequence immediately after being killed distorted gameplay, there it is.

Some people seem to work a lot onto their doctorate about "Aces High's Main Arena Politics and Sociological Interactions".

I prefer to shoot down stuff.

non productive thread

If your country is outnumbered consider it job security!!!
if the attacking pilots Kamikaze consider it easy scores!!
IF you always feel outnumbered change countries....Move on...

do we have to sit here everyday and read the same old whiney posts on how one country sucks more than another because "whoswhats" country pilots are the only pilots that scratch their
 nu#'s or whatever....

You may fly for country x in a few months or less, and what you will find out is that basically all countries are more alike than you realize..  I have been watching this same cranky post "thread" for years now and it is just as stale now as it was several years ago..

Just like i tell the whiney guys at work!! Just fricken let go"

as bugs bunny once put so elequently....

YAAAAAAAA SHUDDAAAAAAAAAP!

this stuff happens to every country not because of a countries behaviour but because its full of peopl who dont give a crap about surviving or winning a map.

My personal opinion is that its all due to the hordes of top of the line fighters in MA.
you cannot have well executed missions when at 12k as you approach a base you meet 4 la7s 3 niks and several spitfires all trying to HO you at the earliest oppertunity. In the end people just grab height and dive through these fools and dump eggs, usually getting killed in the process.

MA behaviour will never change.CT is the nearest you can get to an arena where people dont generally suicide attack everything. Its a more relaxed atmosphere in there which usuually translates into good fights. Apart form where the match up of planes becomes imballanced then you'll see that same suicidal behaviour.

its the planes we fly that make it so repetative in MA and it encourages a quick fix attitude where cooperation isnt really needed.
make the captures require a higher level of cooperation or even have it non scoring if you die and it would soon come to an end or at least reduce the incidence of it.
