I was one of the Rook defenders at A20 when a wave of 10-15 P-47s came in and simply Kamikazed the VH and FHs.  They didn't even try to survive.  None of the 5 or so Rook defenders went down in the attack.  That kind of crap is about as low as it gets.

Weird! And we all (I hope) know how easy it is to kill FH or BH with 1 P47 and not to get killed.

Perk'em all and watch the kamikazi DORKS at least slow'd a bit. :D
Doing so on CV's is almost understandable considering the crazy ack defense...... kamikazee on a VH is just stupid and gamey.  And btw... Rooks are outnumbered a heck of allot.

I give it a 3.  Maybe a 3.1

Wasn't very passionate, the subject matter is so old not even mold can live on it, and only the most pavlovian bait biters jumpped in.

Good for the chuckle value, but not much else.

We (Rooks) had some really good moments last night, despite being outnumbered from early on. We fought CV-15 about as well as it could be fought. We sank the Knit fleet twice. At least three times the Knits launched major raids on the CV-15. Each was butchered without loss to us. There never were more than two of us airborne, but our tripleA gunners were absolutely brilliant, killing escorting fighters at remarkable distances so that our two fighters (a Wildcat and Seafire) could murder the Ju 88s and Ki-67s. Two suicide P-38s where intercepted and killed before they could drop. Few torpedos were dropped, and those that were, missed by a huge distance. Wave after wave came in, with the same result. Eventually, the Knits gave up, having suffered what I estimate as 40-50 losses. We lost no aircraft, suffered no hits to our ships. Anything the fighters couldn’t reach in time was dispatched by our outstanding gunners, usually at ranges greater than 4k.

The capper for us came later. As CV-15 headed for 21 to assist there, I jumped to the CV tower to grab an FM-2. Yikes! Just 5,000 yards away was the Knit fleet on a parallel course, unmanned!! I called for gunners, who came instantly. Within 3 minutes, Knit fleet is on the bottom. This was followed by the killing of 20 to 30 PTs that spawned and respawned, accomplishing nothing but getting dead. Someone must have discovered that their fleet was getting clobbered, and PTs started popping up like worms after a heavy rain (this only reinforced my opinion that PTs are essentially useless).

To all those people who manned CV-15 fighters and guns throughout the evening and fought so brilliantly, a hearty and grateful WELL DONE is in order. It was a privilege to fight alongside you.

My regards,

Agreed.  The whine by Voss was pretty good, about ONLY knits being suicidal..that earned at least a 5.0 for originality and good fabrication.

the Rooks lost with ownership of the west side of mindano
that must be a 1st ... or  the numbers are so far off that we got steamrolled last night .

I have noticed that the numbers have been out of balance late night pac time for the past several weeks .  kinda takes the Fun outta the game dont ya say ?

Its kinda hard to put up an offensive  when out numbered so badly . its all base hopping trying to defend against the hoards.

Hello, I'm Goth and I'm a rook.....almost sounds like an alcoholics anonymous meeting here. Anyway, I like being a rook for the most part. I like not having the numbers, makes me proud when we do win a reset (have we ever done that?) with our inferior numbers. I like the fact that it takes hours for the knights to take one base, sending horde after horde of mindless drones. I like the fact that I can shoot down bishops with impunity.

In all seriousness, I don't much enjoy it when the people flock to the rooks. I get upset when I have to fight 10 people chasing that one lone slow low .205. I have to agree in some aspects of this thread though. Sometimes it feels like the knights and bishop are not even fighting each other. Makes me feel good to know that they fear us enough to gang bang us from both sides. That's the only rationalization I can come to, cause let's face it, knights win as many resets as rooks, so they can only be hitting us out of fear.

The game balances itself. You will always have strat dweebs and furball potatos. I'm in the middle of being a dweebish potato I guess when it comes to gameplay, I like both aspects. Anyway, I've prolly said a lot of nothing here, so I better end this.  :p

i'd normally be rooks in this situation, but lately i've noticed a severe lack of intelligent flying on rook's part, strategical flying that is.  i'm taking a leap and assuming that many rooks just prefer to furball and could care less about bases.  i'm usually that way, but i do like to at least fly effectively rather than just be a lemming to the closest furball.

Some of us logged off because it was 1 AM eastern time and we have jobs to go to in a few hours.

However, I tend to agree that there were too few Rooks actually working to hold or capture fields last night. Those who did, did their best. However, the numbers were lopsided early on. That only exacerbated the situation. Generally speaking, when Rooks have parity in numbers, they usually beat up the Bish and Knits. But, when they have 20% less than the Bishops, and 50% less than the Knights, things will go down hill rapidly. Same goes for either country. Frankly, I don't usually mind. However, it is frustrating to watch 3 or 4 aircraft take a field unopposed 'cause there aren't enough people to cover everything.

Just as long as there have been number whines, there have been people with a smart all-knowing answer to every possible problem. There always has been people who fly on the largest country and then condemn everyone else who gets banged.

There has always been morons who can't realize switching teams (from smaller to bigger) is not a solution to the problem, it only makes things worse. Just because they were stupid enough to do that themselves in order to get easy kills..

The numbers on top of this thread are not the worst seen on MA, not even close. It seems MA could be renamed as DA (Dweeb Arena) judging from the dweeby attitudes the players have there. Nothing else matters except getting the beloved spitty or LA7 and choose the largest country to get an easy carefree game. Better yet, why not attack empty fields, fighting ack with a few friends.. hey thats fun innit?

And btw Ripsnort, from what I've seen that claim about rooks is dead on.

Saddam out!!!!

I can't wait for the mission arena:)

All the stuff you  have posted will only ruin your score, hopefully, in the new arena.

MA flying isn't supossed to be realistic, it's to be fun.  So don't look for any type of flying that you might expect in a more realistic enviromnent.

I am hopeful that the Mission arena will supply an enviromnent where smart flying will be rewarded.  I just hope there are enough people that find this type of flying a challenge. I hope there are enough people who can exercise self control to put the mission first instead of their "glory".  I hope there are enough people that can spend the time to produce the envisioned concept.

The MA is where spits fight P-51's and LA7's etc. as it should be.  A place to get a fight right now.    Just rename the MA the Furball arena.   Just think, all the land grabbers will move on to the Mission Arena as that arena will more then likely make land grabbing a central part of it objectives.

Soon HTC will have addressed all wants in arena activities:)

He heee what more can ya ask for?  Oops, shouldn't have asked that heheeeeee:)
