My apologies the thread should read 150 Octane fuel, this fuel was introduced around the begining of 1944 and made quite a difference to Western Allied fighters.

I know that P47D's were modified to use this fuel, but apart from that nothing more.
There is a new book out on the R-2800 this may have more information, trouble is its £45.

"The Mighty Eighth War Manual" by R. Freeman claims that P-47M (C series R-2800) required grade 150 fuel and the 56th FG used this fuel. "R-2800" by G. White is a pretty good book (from technical viewpoint) but there is not much about MAP values used in service.
