AMD launches the 2400+ and 2600+ today. The very interesting part is that they are proving to overclock very well. Tom's Hardware has one running at 2.8 GHz true clock speed!
For reference the XP 2200+ runs at 1800 MHz true, the 2600+ runs at 2.133 GHz true.
The 2600+ will probably not hold the performance crown long, as Intel launches the 2.8 GHz P4 next week. The fact that the Athlon is overclocking so well means that AMD will be able to continue to stay with Intel.
I mention this because those looking to build systems right now will want to wait about a week, as prices on current CPUs are going to fall by a significant amount.
