CT Set up for 30 Aug...
« on: August 28, 2002, 10:52:35 AM »
It's back to the ETO, chaps!Hedgerows of France

July 1944 saw the Allies still struggling to break out of the hedgerow country behind the beaches of Normandy.  While much of the Luftwaffe’s Channel strength had been away east on Jun 6, 1944, the invasion dictated that it be rushed back to France in an attempt to stem the rising tide of the Allied war machine.  Meanwhile, the Combined Bomber Offensive was rolling along, with long-ranged fighter escort finally becoming available in strength.

Setup: See Map below for base locations and Axis/Allied controlled areas.

Radar (bar/dot/alt) – 50/25/500
Fuel Burn Rate – 1.5
Ack/Flak Lethality – 0.7
Winds – 5 mph out of the east
Downtime multiplier – MA standard

OOB:

Allies (Rooks) –
From A8 and A9 only: P-51D, B-17 and Lanc III
From all fields: P-51B, P-47D-25&30, P-38, Spit-IX, Typhoon, Mosquito (because I was told that if I left it out, Karnak would have a cow;)), C-47, B-26, Boston III, A-20G, all GV’s

Axis (Bishop) –
From A36 only: Me262
From all fields: Bf109F-4/G-2/G-6/G-10, Fw190A-5/A-8/F-8/D-9, Bf110G-2, Ju88, C-47, all GV’s

NOTES: No A/C or vehicles are perked.  Neutral fields will have MURDEROUS ack and flak, and will have no A/C, vehicles, or guns enabled.  Please just leave them alone!  Naval forces will be place out of the way and player-command of task forces disabled.  Allied goal is to take all the Axis bases to win a reset.  Axis goal is to prevent that and, if possible, to push the Allies back into the English Channel.

"Excuse me, but.....ah.....what are "neutral fields", sir?

"And, by the way, sir, sinking the boats like that is genius.  I sure hope that other people do that in subsequent setups.  Yes, I do.

"Thanks you, sir.  I hope my question isn't too silly."

(Sits down with red face.)

ARE YOU MENTALLY DEFECTIVE, SOLDIER? WHAT THE HELL STUPID KIND OF QUESTION IS THAT?  HOW DO YOU EXPECT TO WIN A WAR, SON?  MY GOSH, I'M SURPRISED YOU MANAGED TO FIND TWO LIVING NEURONS LEFT IN THAT HEAD OF YOURS TO RUB TOGETHER AND GENERATE A SINGLE THOUGHT! THE ANSWER'S RIGHT THERE IN FRONT OF YOU! RIGHT UP THERE ON THE...map...er, it should be on the...oh.  I see, Lieutenant.  I guess the Intel shop must have left that little detail off.  Well, don't worry about it.  The neutral fields will be easy to spot on your navigation charts.  They're the ones with the Knight symbols next to em;).  And if that doesn't clue you in, and you happen to wander too close to one, another automatic mechanism will kick in to confirm beyond any doubt that you're in the wrong place :D.

Yes, that's the new large-scale BoB terrain that Sundog (I believe) created for the BoB scenario currently running.  It's not up on the download site at HTC, but you can auto-download it by simply going into the SEA now, or the CT after I've loaded this set up Friday.  The Brit radar sites are particularly cool, as are the grass airfields.  In fact, I may have to move the B-17 and Lanc a bit farther back towards London, to the large airfields, because I'm not sure they can take off fully loaded from the small fields.

Yes.. fighting Spit14s in large numbers would be interesting. There's no chance of that happening in the MA.. so I think it should be fairly interesting to see a group of Spit14s around. ;)

Of course, IF Spit14s were present at this setup.

WTG on the new grass fields on that map.  Very nice to finally be able to do a formation take-off.  Fits in well with 880 style.

Hehe...yeah, it was a test.  Now that the test is complete, the OOB has been edited to say "All fields: P51B..."  Nice catch;).
