Again on Saturday September 14th we will be starting a new event called
Combat Air Patrol or
CAP. Swoop, and gremlin will be running this.
This event will run best with pre-assigned C.O.’s for each side. If you would like to be a C.O. please post in this thread and let swoop know. http://www.hitechcreations.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=63300The new CAP event will be held every Saturday in the SEA and will be using several features never seen before in a CM run event:
Mixed walk-on / squad based - with no need for pre-registration, squads are invited to fly in the CAP event on their side of choice. Any imbalance in numbers will be rectified with walk-on pilots. We would appreciate any squads wishing to fly in the event contact the side CO before the frame and let him know how many you have and what you'd like to fly, purely so the CO can plan accordingly.
Multiple lives - Unlike TOD, the CAP event will be using a 4 life system with re-up windows every 30 minutes for 2 hours. If you die or are damaged and need a new plane simply wait for the next re-up window when fields will be opened.
Branching campaign - The CM team have developed a true branching campaign that will allow either side to win and possibly introduce alternate history depending on the results. For example, if the LW clearly win the BoB then the Fuhrer will order Operation Sealion, the invasion of Britain. If Britain is conquered then later in the war US Forces will have to retake the British Isles. We don't want to give away too much more just yet, it'll spoil the surprise. Events will begin in Europe, 1940, and continue through to 1945. The campaign will of course be re-written to encompass new aircraft / vehicles as and when they become available.
CO v CO - For each section of the campaign we want to have 1 CO for all frames. Once a section (for example, Africa 1941) and all it's frames are over we will declare a winner and the loser will be relieved of command. Winner stays on. To this end, if you would like to volunteer to lead a side please post in the special events forum. Frames will lean more towards objective based rather than score based.
Medals and awards - The event will incorporate a totally new feature to Aces High special events, medal awards. This is a semi-automated system which will award pilots medals based on their performance during this event. Please Note: This is a separate system to that which HTC propose for version 1.11 of Aces High. In order to be eligible for automatic awards please go to:
