NIMES, FRANCE - Heavy rains have drenched southeastern France, causing flooding blamed for at least 26 deaths.
The rain, which has poured since Sunday, caused rivers in the Gard, Vaucluse and Herault regions to overflow.
The flowing water swamped residents, knocked out electricity in hundreds of thousands of homes and cut off telephone service.
Rescuers in the village of Aramon where a dam burst said 30 people there are unaccounted for.
