I was just thinking about what happened to me in this post  and I wonder if we could maybe have a bit more generous a system for "landing zones".  Realistically, if you got as close as I did (see thread), you would be credited with good landing which is to say your plane would make it home.   It's annoying if you deadstick land on the runway even and happen to veer off it by a few feet, but can't get back on.  I mean, it's only a few feet away.  Perhaps any landing with 1/4 or 1/2 mile counts as good.  Just a suggestion.

The problem is nobody has yet figured out how to both allow that to happen, AND make people want to land on the runway.

Maybe counting a gear down landing as successful if it is near the airfield would be OK, but only granting the 1.25 multiplier to perks if the landing is on the runway itself.

That is a good idea on the perks for ON the runway.
How about this, double the width of the runway 'land successful' area but do not double it graphically. That would give a reasonable margin of error for those 1/2 on and 1/2 off stops where you can't move anymore.
[ I just used double as a reference, maybe 1.5 times the present width  would work. ]

move the safe landing zone and folks will still gripe when they roll to a stop a few feet from it.

it's just not that hard to get it down on the runway, and if you don't, oh well, you prolly should have planned the approach better.

Add a mule GV, have a buddy spawn it at the VH come out and tow ya back and he gets perks for it, I dont know how many times I end up just a few feet from runway and wish something could tow or push you the few extra feet. And give the guy who towed ya some perks.

I don't care what happened to you.  If you can't make it to the tarmac, to damn bad.

The ultra melon part was pretty funny though.

Furious has the gist of it....you give 'em an inch and pretty soon they will want 2 inches....then later they will want 3 inches....and so on until eventually you just have to land anywhere and it will be a safe landing.

i understand that HTC wants us to land on the runway and why, but it seems strange that if you crash land with gear up and damage your eng , wing , etc and end up on the pavement you get "sucessfull landing " but if you do a soft wheels down landing next to the runway on the grass it's a "ditch".

a small thing, dosn't really bother me but seems there should be a better way

just a personal opinion , i think any "landing" inside the field boundry should be ok.

once i was leaking oil and trying to make it to a friendly base, oil pressure was very low when i saw the base, i had alt so i killed the eng to save what little oil i had left ( it seems when the eng is off the leak stops) i did a dead stick landing on the grass and rolled close to a taxi way , then started the eng to roll onto the pavement and shut it down to get good landing, it was interesting and  challangeing and it worked but it did seem like gameing the game
