This made me think about a well published story from these parts:

An old lady purchased a V-8 Thunderbird (around 93 some time) and had a problem with the trunk leaking.  She took it into the dealer for a new trunk seal.  That night, one of the mechanics took it home with him and rolled it while drag racing another Thunderbird.  The car was 1 week old at the time.

The dealer refused to replace the car with a new one, insisting that it wasn't totalled and did not require replacement.  You take a 1 week old car into a dealer and end up with a car that's had extensive bodywork done to it.

There is page after page of people from other bbs logging in to condemn the actions of this poor guy. Getting in the spirit of things I registered as "Mustang Sal" and claimed to have followed this thread from http://www.menindresses.com and was surprised to discover that really is a website. Then I was even more surprised to find out the site had so much traffic it was timing out on me.

I was >< close to buying a Cobra SVT 2002 over the current car I have...decided that handling was more important than straight away speed...besides about 10 other items like:
Cheap interior
Cramped interior
No back seat (well, its there, but no human can ride in it)
Gas milege
Exhaust note (I'm going to commute 75 miles a day with THAT exhaust note? uh uh, no way)
Salesmen wouldn't budge more than $500 under MSRP
etc.
etc.
The forum isn't as bad as I've seen with young guns driving BMWs...you should check out E46fanatics.com if you want a good laugh.

That guy in an idiot for sure.

Stangs are great cars!!! Cobra are sweet. Whoever buys mustangs for interior should look elsewhere, SVT cobras 99+ with independed rear suspension handle quite nice, and that 4.6L DOHC 32V engine breathes Fire, and performace parts??,, oh boy tons are available!!!

Ripsnort, good thing you didnt buy that 2002 SVT, as they dont exist, salesman was playing you. newer body cobras were available only in 1999,2001 and 2003. 2003 SVT is a blast with 400HP at your foot.

Mustangs RULE!!!!

Er, was a 2001 (last year) model.  ANyway, interior wasn't a deciding factor,(though it *was* one of the many decisions factored in) handling was, and the BMW blew it away in cornering, my wife could even tell the significant difference.

The HP was the only thing significant that got a grin on my face, then I came to my senses, and knew I needed something more than just a straight-away sled.
