is your aim off lately?

You know ... Last night I upped a Dora and headed out to defend one of our last AF's (Yeah I'm a Rook ;) ) and I stumbled upon a single pony. I followed that pony at 400 yards for more than 30 sec. spent 200 odd rounds of my 20mm ammo. He was only doing mild evasive maneuvers, trying not to bleed of energy. He fired off his rockets and started to pull away when at last I saw two ... TWO strikes, and then he started a hard climb and broke apart. I thought he just overstressed his airframe seeing we did 400 mph or so. But now I'm thinking maybe many of those 200 odd rounds I lobbed after him actually hit, and just didn't register for 30 sec. or so, and that the two strikes I saw was an accumulated hit of 30 sec. worth of hits. My "beacon" lamp never lit up though. Strange...

Even more strange was the fact that when I got over to the besieged AF where all hell had broken loose I engaged the enemy knowing that I we were outnumbered 5 to 1 or more. I did several H2H's against Hellcats and Corsairs ... nothing, we all lived. I remember looking aft and seeing two Hellcats, a Zeke and a Corsair on my tail. All within 600 yards spraying me. Nothing registered. At one point I was facing 8 bandits and it took them 2 minutes to kill me! Something is not right ...

While reading these responses, a thought came to mind... I would have to ask those more knowledgable then myself but it's just a thought. The new main arena/server now allows 700 players to compete. That's a hell of alot of data which needs to be transferred.

1.) Is this a real issue or is it just perceived?
2.) Is HT using some kind of new algorythm to compress the data in order to free up some of the bandwidth on the server to get those numbers?
3.) If so, would that cause the increased micro-warps and lost packets which would effect the hit model?
4.) If not, what would cause this problem?

I've also been paying attention to my host que time and connection rate. The host que is typically 20ms spiking from 0-100ms sporadically. When I log into the arena, there's typically a 80ms -100ms ping for the MA. I'm on cable and my ping times used to run 50-70ms steady.

Skuzzy, your people are weeping, do you hear our cries of oppression? :D

My aiming has gotten pretty poor too, but lately I have been flying mostly the Me109G10 with only 60rounds  in the cannon, so maybe I wasn't putting enough bullets in the air.

 I'm having the same experience..."micro-warps".

In addition, I'm seeing "freezes" of my view when I
select the clipboard/status function. It's as though
everything stops for a fraction of a second and during
this time the cursor is also frozen.

Not sure if this last problem is an issue with my system
or AH  as I recently reloaded my video card drivers, DX8
and AH in an attempt to stop CTD's.

For what it is worth I have noticed that I am missing hits and kills recently, last 3-4 weeks; especially when flying the p51. I usually had been able to get significant hits, damage, kills, etc on oblique angles. For example 20 degrees from head on after immelmans, hammerheads, hard break turns, etc. I have been pulling lead as the con has completed his turn at the apex and leaving a stream of rounds in his path. Invariably, the con flys through the center of my gunsight unscathed. Makes it very difficult to energy fight in a 51 when the high angle shots are not registered. By the way, these take place d200 in.

have a good day

double check your convergence settings... p51's have a tendancy to have the settings switched for some reason and it might account for some of what you're seeing.

Nah, I stopped listening to the radio via Real Player a long
time back. I don't have anything else running in the background
that hasn't been running before...like for the past year.

I'm gonna dick around with BIOS settings and see if anything
there "cures" the problems but I do know that when I'm
flying in the canyonsof that freaking pizza map my framerate
 seems to suffer...
