Friendly collision above 500 ft please
« on: October 14, 2002, 08:34:07 AM »
I think turning on friendly collisions above 500 ft will add a lot to the gameplay reality.

Especialy if the Mission Arena is ever taking off, I think a lot of things should change there.

I mainly started playing AH for the reality factor and I hope the Mission Arena will be the place where these things can be applied.

Friendly fire should be at 100% for example.

Heh, I can't wait to see all these "he ran thru me and made me killshooter myself!" whines turn into "he ran into me!" whines.

I think it should be on everyone except over you own base.

It would add allot to the game plus reduce gangbanging significantly.

It would also add allot to ACM by making your foe collide.

Yeah, I want some friendly idiot ramming the rear of my Lanc formation that I just spent and hour getting to alt.  Or I want some screwball with no SA to t-bone my 262 as I go screaming by.

Or how about this.  County A is down to 2 fields and is desperate.  They have someone switch sides.  But instead of this person being a spy, this person grabs a Tiffy and rear-ends every goon in sight?

No thanks.

Collision modeling is screwed up enough as it is. Don't make it worse with friendly "collisions" as well.
DEFINITION OF A VETERAN
A Veteran - whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve - is someone who, at one point in their life, wrote a check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life."

That would make formation flying suicidal.

That's the thing Oed....when you see a friendly "flying through you", on HIS FE he's not actually flying into you, but near you.

In other words, you'd be dying because of his impatience.  So not only would he steal your kill, but kill you at the same time.

In theory friendly collisions is a great thing.  In practice it's not so good, because of lag and internet wierdness.

fatty i had  this happen to me just the other day. I was chasing a p51 for ages and as i was about to finnish him i saw a friendly literally fly thru me.I was unfortunately already firing and i killed myself.
you call this a whine?

From my point of veiw i had no chance of knowing this guy was there until it was too late.
seems to me the only people that would call this a whine are those that get shouted at for causing it.If i see a player firing i try to stay to one side or leave the kill to them if they get extremely close. If i ever fly thru a bullet stream and cause someone to get killshot I appologise for doing it.
We know when we have done a wrong move or wizzed accross someones shot but its only the dweebs who say they were not in the wrong when they fire from behind you or try to overtake you without letting you know they are there.

why do you take offence to people who dont like it? are you the type that does just this very thing i wonder?  :D

It seems to me that the state of the net would create even more problems...

now, if everybody had the same ping time AND there were ZERO micro warps then sure, it would be neat but when those conditions happen you'd still have a problem with all those pigs that can suddenly fly and the same with all those monkeys flying outa everyones butts  :D

So, Hazed...correct me if I'm wrong, but if you were chasing this guy for like "ages" as you stated.....

Could you not look back thru the use of your handy little hat switch and see a friendly coming up behind you?  Or is your SA bad enough that you dont look behind you when chasing a bad guy?  I wish I could find more target-fixated opponents like you in the MA.  It would be like clubbing baby Rooks.
