Wow Udie... I haven't heard that kinda... sadness (not the derogatory meaning)... since the Reagan years when bunker buildin' came back into vogue.
You either gotta take some kinda proactive measures on your own, in some form... something that will make you feel better about it all... or just quit paying attention to the papers for a coupla of months.
It aint healthy, what I see in your posts lately....
I read this book about, uhm, 30 steps to better health or better living or whatever... and one of the 1st things it said was to take a two month break from reading any newspapers and watching the news. I never followed any of the advice, but that one did make sense to me.
I reckon after a while you would stop being consumed by events that you have absolutely no control over, and start instead to become Udie, this guy who lives in Texas, has a job, drives a car, fishes... christ - the girls in Texas.... Stuff that matters. The rest of it? The news? What the hell you gonna do about all that anyway? It's fun to discuss but it *can* get unhealthy. I mean... thinkin' we're all gonna die in 5 years? Might happen, but that kinda insight is gonna have the sole effect of makin' one's last 5 years on this planet a miserable experience.
So, you can spin yourself outta control by all this... and it won't change a single thing. The only thing happenin' is you gettin' spun outta control. The other fix is to get proactive about it, and try and do something.... and that can give you peace as well. But besides that, frustration, helplessness and fear are not an unusual result.
Ah heck... maybe I'm readin' more into this than is there... and I *totally* apologize if this is outta line or over the top.
