1 side change per month
« on: October 20, 2002, 02:26:08 AM »
Well I dont know how many others out there are disgusted with the practice of jumping sides to the side thats winning, but ive seen it enuff now I have to bring it up. It disgusts me to see 1 country swell up to very out of ordinary numbers, it reminds me much of the NFL- absolutely no loyalty, just follow the money (perk points). I would like to see some kind of deterrent to this cowardly act. Perhaps just 1 country per month, or maybe 200 perk points per switch. Im not sure exactly what the answer is but in my opinion somthing needs to be done.
I started MA as a Knit back when I was brand new to AH, I changed on my 2nd day in MA to fly with friends I recognized on bish side. I have been bish ever since & will stay bish until EA buys AH & closes it down (could also read "forever").
It is sad that this post needs to exists, but I suppose letting mainstream public know about game is gonna bring in the simpletons who have no honor or loyalty. So I push for making them have a lil integrity & fly 1 country for a whole month, for better or worse, richer numbers or poorer, with honor- will you fight?

I change some between knights and rooks. Am usually knights but go rook when they are in need of alot of help, so making country switch ones per month would prevent me from changing to rook.

Some players switch to the country with the lowest numbers.

I guess they have no "honor or loyalty".

Folks like these should not be allowed to do switch and should bow their heads in shame.

I always jump to the winning country to get the perks!!  It is the best way to build up the perk points.  I should know, for I have 37 perk points!!

Only 167 more for a Me262!  My favorite plane to fly in AH.  I flew it once during free night.  I also fly it off-line!

Powell: Yes Rock.
Rock: Well that's where I got it, he's my son.
Powell: Really Rock, well I'd like to meet him.
Rock:  No ya wouldn't.

Welp I haven't changed sides in as long as I can remember, but honor and loyalty?  Heh.

Ya know...I see this assumption all the time and its wrong.  You dont get perk points for a reset unless you have been in the winning country for at least 12 hours.  I repeat: YOU DONT GET PERK POINTS FOR A RESET UNLESS YOU HAVE BEEN IN THE WINNING COUNTRY FOR AT LEAST 12 HOURS.

Now, if you have the ability to predict a reset more than 12 hours in advance then all I have to say is give me a call about 12 hours before the lottery drawing would ya?  :)

There is still the problem with those that change countries to be on the side w/ numbers...in a map reset fight they can and often do get more fighter perks doing so than what they'd get in reset perkies.
I'd bet that MOST who change countries before the reset DO know that they won't get the reset perkies but like to fight the easy fight and gain perks that way instead.

HT hinted that a fix was in the works a few months ago...be patient.

You will never get as many perks on offense as you can defending. (unless you're bombing or something, even then base defense in IL2 beats it)

Ok, lets say one night a lot of people decide to switch to knits because they are winning or are tired of getting banged.  Those people are now stuck on knits b/c they can't switch back.  Now you have a number imbalance that can't be fixed until the next month.  Nice idea, I like it.

But see, that isn't the path of least resistance...I'll stand on my statement.

If anything, folks should get a meager 5 or 10 perks if they switch to the country with the lowest numbers AND log at least 1 (or so) hour(s) of flight time with that country before switching back (or something to that effect).

Then do something clever like allow X[/u] number of country changes per tour, but make changing to a country that has is down to, say, 20% of its initial field count or has fewer than half the numbers of the next most populous country free -- that would limit people's ability to hop around except to support whoever happens to be the current major underdog.

1 switch per month wasnt my only SUGGESTION mathman, I in fact had 2. And if there was knowledge that only 1 change could be made, it would stand to reason that people MIGHT put a lil thought into the choice before just jumpin sides nilly willy whenever the whim strikes.
My purpose for this was not a demand for my decision to be implemeted- just a discussion about a trend I dislike & would love to see a deterent to. There should be some cost to switch sides, even if to the smaller country, if yer that much of a bad-ass im sure you can afford the move. I can, but I stay bish whether I have numbers or not, whether they fightin smart or not. I guess I am a dying breed- a loyalist:cool:

Would be nice if country changes would be allowed only if that country was within x-percentage range above numbers as the one yer coming from..

If that countries number is below the number you are coming from, it doesn't matter by how much, you will be able to switch.

but if the country you are trying to change to has super high numbers you can't switch until they get back within that percentage range...which could be a little later that nite or whatever.

This makes it so you are not totally locked out per day month week or whatever, or by squad but it goes stricty by the numbers and will change itself as the numbers change.

I forgot to add.

This obviously will not prevent side imbalance by login(squads will not be stuck without some of their members or whatever just cause they have higher numbers) It only has to do with side switching while the sides are imbalanced.

So it'd be a help and not a cureall.
