I just always seemed amazed how good of a quality some of you keep them in.

I would like to ask not to disgrace your grandfather but was he ever shot down?

A book some of you should read is Under a War torn Sky very short but very meaningful book.

About a bomber co-pilot getting shotdown over enemy territory.

It is my pleasure to post them here and I am glad you got enjoyment out of them. Hawklore, thank you for your kind words

No he was not ever shot down. He did 172 operational missions in a Typhoon and then went on to be an instructor on the Bomber Defence Flight.

He was then a test pilot and flew over 40 aircraft. He also did a fair ammount of ops in a P40.

The serial seems to read JP504..

Yup,

JP504, SF@R and D-day black on fuselage, White/black on wings is what I'm going with.

Betown, Pics like you have posted are more special than anything we come up with in a 'game'. Real WW2 pics, especially those of a single person with some sort of connection are always moving. If you feel happy to do it more details/stories/anything would be well recieved.

My family keeps bugging my grandad to put all that he remembers down on paper (82 and Royal Navy, HMS Newcastle mainly). Once gone it's never regained, anything you have would be gratefully recieved, I'm sure, by this community.
