Yea..dont KNOW why but it IS hard on the eyes. I have a hard time seeing the plane in my sights for the terrian. NOW..that said I think the concept is great. I like the terrian type...I do have fun there. Its just the damn color for whatever reason. Maybe I need a NEW monitor as mine's like 6yrs old or something.

Of course, I only see what he posts here and what he does in the MA.  I know virtually nothing about the man.  I think its important for people to realize that we don't really know squat about each other.... definately not enough to use words like "hate".

Yeah I wonder why they made the terrain the same color as the panzer. Goofy bastards, what were they thinking .

Muhahaha Samm...lol. Its not just the "brown" colored targets...its the grey, green etc. The seem to "bleed" into the surronding AO for whatever reason. Like I said...I wonder if its a monitor quality issue more than anything.

ahh... samm is a fluffer and doesn't want to run into anyone while milkrunning... that explains it.  Couldn't figure out how anyone thought things were too crowded.

I don't like the pizza map and I don't like night time in AH.  I usualy try both for a bit in case something good is happening...  Last night I lokeed around at the map and seen the idle watermelon chat and no kill messages for about 3 minutes and logged.

Numbers are down for nite and pizza but not enough probly to make HTC fear loss of customer base.   I don't think that a new guy trying out AH will be to attracted tho is he starts on pizza map during anything but prime time.   I think most want a little excitement.

less than ten kills per hour is too sparsley populated.

I logged on last night when there were only about 50 other Rooks on-line.  That's pretty sparse for a map that size.  Aside from its size, the main problem with the map, in my opinion, is that it lacks many (any?) features that tend to generate defined fronts or concentrated action.

I have limited time to fly, and I like to know that when I take off I will run across a number of enemy planes before I run out of fuel.  On some days, I have no problems finding fights.  On others, like last night, I mostly fly around and look at the terrain.  (I didn't really mind the terrain when the map was first released, but the color and texture are really starting to grate now.)  It seems to be hit or miss, although it seems worse when flying Rook (who are almost always badly outnumbered when I fly) than the other two teams.  After a really miserable experience last night, I think I may fly in the CT or IL-2 next time I log in and see the map.

Having said that, I think that the map has a lot of interesting features, like the canyons and variable altitude.  I also think that larger maps are generally good, but you know what they say about too much of a good thing!  I think that maps about twice the size of the smaller maps would better suit the size of the player base.

I think the AK map definitely represents progress in the general direction that AH needs to go.  But like all first steps, it needs refinement.

I'd rather fly the Pizza than the womb/heart shaped POS that shows up every now and then.

I don't mind it - a map is a map.  Planes are all the same.

I don't understand.  On one hand I get the message you were outnumbered.  But then on the other you say you could not find a fight.  This doesn't make sense.

edit:  Maybe you don't understand how the clipboard map works?  (it is moveable with mouse and zoomable with "Insert/Delete keys)  I was landing multi kill sorties without having to fly far - sometimes not even leaving the base.  I was only limited by my ammo and my aim.  You were just obviously in the wrong place is all i can figure.

Turbot:

I do know how to use the clipboard.  I agree it that it seems counter-intuitive that being on the out-numbered team I couldn't find fights (this is definitely not the case on the smaller maps, as it seems that many of the Rook fields are often CAP'd).  I think that what sometimes happens is that most of the action is taking place between the other two teams that have 3 times as many pilots as the Rooks.  Perhaps this is due to the inherent lack of focus in the map--i.e., I think that many people are just trying to find fights rather than take bases, so they tend to congrate where the highest concentration of planes are.  Of course, some are trying to take bases, but that doesn't require nearly as much concentrated action as on the other maps.

In fairness, I did find a couple of fights (and got shot down too often -- maybe that's part of the reson it left a bad taste in my mouth), but it took an inordinate amount of time to find those fights.  Using the clipboard and turning off all of the icons so that I could see the radar bars, there were rarely sectors within range of our bases that had more one or two enemy fighters.  I took off and headed in those directions, and when I arrived in the enemy sector, maybe I would find the enemy and maybe I wouldn't.  Perhaps that is "historical," but, to me, it's not a whole lot of fun.

Also, recall that I did say that it has been, for me, "hit or miss."  On some occassions, I have had very good luck on the AK map finding sustained action.  In particular, when the map first came out, I recall a number of very entertaining sustained assaults on coastal bases.  (To the extent the map has features that naturally generate sustained fronts, I guess they're the coastlines.)  I'm sure that if I had time to stay on-line for four or five hours at a time, things would get better with the ebb and flow of base captures, even on the "miss" days.  I typically do not have that kind of time, however.  I can't recall a time when I logged on to one of the smaller maps, even with time for just one or two sorties, when I couldn't find enough fights to empty my guns on half or three-quarters of a tank of fuel.

It's cool if you fly the .205 low. :D Otherwise it is a "little" bright colored. On the other hand I think the canyons are THE best part of any of the AH maps.

Best Damn Map in AH is Pizza.

Anything to avoid the narrow battle front furballing of the others.

Please give us more large maps!

Problems with the pizza:
 - colour is offensive to many players
 - 12k fields? yeah right
 - each country starts of with 6 fronts
 - early war a/c suffer because of excessive alts (ground level is usually 4k)
 - limited waterways for CVs
 - buffing is difficult as some strategic fields/targets are at excessive alts (10k+) so the buff has to climb to 20k min to clear ack
 - spawn points are close enough to allow continuous vehicle milkruns

Most people just logon to pizza now and milkrun the crap out of it to try and reset it faster. I've been on whens theres been 300 people on and easily milkrunned some key fields. Its a damn joke.

Fair enough AKs put some work in on it. But HTC doesn't pay the player base to develop maps, thats HTCs job. And people aren't screaming fora new 'ubermap', they just want to dump this abomination.
