to Me , I use to fly the Pac arenas with the 117th squad , I would appreciate any input and will try  AH as  soon as I have a new box Im building up and running. Im alittle behind the Hardware curve  ;).

In Aces High, head ons are enabled and you can collide.

I recommend it highly. It's much more realistic than AW and the graphics are outstanding. I, too, am an old AW Big Pac flyer and was with the 555th. There are five of us now flying in AH with the 1st Nasty and are having a time of it.

i can't even imagine how u guys could fly AW back in those days when Internet was so slow...I only played with AW1 and 2 offline.
Was there as much warping as in AH? How realistic was it?

Belive it or not i could play AW day and night, i guess its not the case with AH.. I guess it was just the people or the limited amount if players in the RR...500+ in AH on weekends, was never like that in AW.

I ran 56k in AW and didnt notice much warping,  The reality wasnt no where near as to what AH is now.

Bjack, exactly.  I'm not sure if my comment came across as though I was upset about head-ons being enabled, it can't be further from the truth.  I tried Air Warrior for a short time and was disgusted with the HOs not being enabled.  I'd complain about it and it seemed like everyone said it's what is best and they all assured me I'd hate to see the game turn into "Joust Warrior."  I remember the dogfights, flying nose-to-nose and then through your opponent (no collisions) over and over again.  That one limitation was probably 90% of why I quit.  Two months later I found Aces High and never left and it's been over a year now.  Anyway, I think a veteran Air Warrior flyer will find the biggest difference in fights being that HOs are enabled and collisions with enemy aircraft occur.

Thanks for the input , one thing that did drive me nuts was the warps and lags , but I guess that is just life with online gaming and it doesn't sound like that has change here.

Played AW since AW4W and came to AH two summers ago - its great fun - but very different.  The basic flight modles are the same, but you cant do some of the crazy P38 floping here.

In addition, the N1k2 is COMPLETELY different here - in AH its the ultimate dweeb/newbie plane.

All in all, its a much more realistic and fun game IMHO.  Dont let the vocal minority get you down - we've got some real amazinhunks here that never shut up - but they dont represent everyone.

S!

ex aw3 here.  Flew as a "C" with the C-Hawks.  Was a great bunch of guys and I miss them.  Do any of you bomber pilots remember feeling a sense of dread when seeing a FW109 chasing you and you without a gunner (Or with a gunner) that FW would just tear you apart.

As for the difference between the 2, there is no comparrision.  I too was at first lost and it took awhile getting used to.  Now I fly way to much.  Just ask Mommy Rabbit:D .

And Bjack, you will not be dissapointed.  This is the best ride in the park.

I played AW from 1 thru 3 and loved it.  This game is an improvment with the model, and with the enhanced ground game.  I am still wearing my training wheels here, but I am getting better everyday.  Maybe I will see top pilot again someday, but for now I am just having fun.  (S)

To answer in earliar question.  Kesmai lowered the packet exhcange to ease lag, and other issues.  The front end was local much like it is here so the information exchanged was very small.

Ex- AW'er here, played from the end of aw2 thru the end. I played mostly rr big pac had a lot of buds there, i miss most of them. Iflew w/az from the start but moved to cz where i found a home with the rednoodles. There was a huge difference in play when i came to ah. after all the help that i recieved from A LOT of players here i have become an average to above average pilot now. I can gaurantee you this, if you ask for help you will get more help than you ever bargained for and this will help emensly.
I do miss the rr part of aw but i have transitioned to ah well and am not looking back. Some friends from aw left here for wolfenstein but I have made many more new ones. The game is aboout 6 steps up from aw and you you will definately have a lot more fun in here once you have all the inputs dialed in right and if you find the RIGHT bunch of guys to hook up with. Enjoy your stay here and I give you a fond welcome fellow AW'er. <>!!!:D
