My school's union sux, as does the NEA. Neither sees any of my money.

I'll have to check it out next time I'm on that side of town. (don't get over that way much though, too much damn traffic).

I'm packing for a trip to K-falls right now. nothing quite so fun as a 5-6 hour drive through the passes, imediatly followed by a 12 hour shift.

oh well, the money should be good.

I only started working 2 years ago and have had three managers. The first was ineffectual, the second was ineffectual and indecisive and only now have I got someone who's up to the job. I'm trying to learn as much as I can from the guy.

From my limited experience, unions are a good idea, some of the time.

Unions cannot provide anything decent management cannot beat.

Obviously bad management preceeded the unions Toad, but with current labor laws Unions are essencially unnecessary. Like I said, any company with a union probably deserves it.

Little side story. My Dad's company was about to have a union vote. While direct lobbying is illegal he took the opportunity to figure out the total of 1 years Union dues. He then went out and bought a bunch of cool toys like TV sets, a shotgun, and other stuff with that money. These were placed in a conspicuous location in the plant and a little sign just said "1 years dues".

The union lost the election.

Strange, I pay $720 a year in union dues at their new inflated dues rate. My last raise (just the raise alone) payed for them in the 1st 2 week check. Noone hates the union so much anymore.

liberals espouse liberal ideas only when it is your ox being gored... They tend to "conservative up" when they are being affected. It has allways been this way. It is rosie odonnel shreiking out for gun control from behind her concealed carry permit holding bodyguard...

I'm a UPS Teamster here....being a Republican during this last election was an eye opener and most of the usualy casual political discussions turned into yelling matches because the local "heardliners" insisted anyone a Teamster MUST be a Democrat and vote their way. I objected and told them that the main purpose of a union is to represent the employees and barter for better wages and benefits. I'll be damned if I'm going to barter for better wages and loose them all to tax-increasing Democrats as we have here in Maine (which has the highest income taxes and lowest average income).

The Union has its Pros and Con...yeah, let's work with the company and meet goals so we all get better paychecks. But Unions should not be political voices. Its like me saying Maine hates Democrats...whom am I to speak for all? And that's what Unions do....claim to speak for all in matters they A) Haven't a clue and B) Misrepresent their organizations political views.

Anyways....there's the Cliff Note version of my Union Sermon. My Union Reps despise me because I'm not sold on their Union Lines and I research my facts. The Company loves me because I give the Union such a hard time. For what I pay in dues, its my duty to get straight answers

Hmmmmmmm, I'm trying to think of an industry that has grown by being unionized. Anyone know of any? I think the steel industry started to decline after a strike in 1959. That affected iron workers in Minnesota which in turn hurt all people who serviced steel workers and iron workers. See trickle down works!

So a strike 43 years ago killed the steel industry even though there has not been one since.
