Ok,
10 years ago, I was daydreaming with a friend while talking about how awesome the 386 CPU was improving.
I think the 486 was to be released shortly.
How AWESOME was a 486 to be. Image what the 586 will be like!
WOW OK I have a crazy thought... image a 686! I think my imagination MAY have touched on a 786,886 but a 686 was disneyland talk.
So what has happened?
I THINK the best processor may have been 20 MHZ super duper 386.
Within 3 years I have a powerhouse 486DX266
Then a MEGA Pentium 90. (586)
History moved on with a Pentium II (686)
Pentium III (786)
And now the insane 886, which I barely could conceive 10 years ago (Pentium 4).
So... I basically started with a 286/14. Now I bought a Celery 1.7 GHZ a few days ago for a mate (El cheap P4ish derivativeish)
THAT IS 14MHZ TIME 121 EQUALS 1.7GHZ.
- - - - - -
SO 10 years from now?
1.7 Ghz * 121 = 205 GHZ.
Same as what someone else predicted above.
Do you think that is fast enough for real time physics calculations?
(Jaw hits the floor thinking about it)
