XP / CH pedals/ Logitech??? Help!
« on: November 30, 2002, 03:14:12 AM »
Kanttori has a problem:

He has WIN XP PRO and Logitech Wingman Digital Extreme -joystick with CH pedals.

XP founds joystick and it works fine but pedals dont?

So: pedals are analog, stick is digital. How to solve this? Everything works fine with old 98.

edit: connected to gameport.

The Wingman is a digital joystick, whereas your pedals are pure analog.

The best solution for this setup requires a second analog joystick. Connect your wingman to the USB port, and connect the rudder pedals and an analog joystick (can be an old crapppy joystick) to the gameport. You will get two joysticks showing in your controller lists, but you will be able to use the wingman as your primary and then map the rudder pedals in AHs joystick setup.

For example, I had my wingman plugged into my USB, and my pedals and an old Flightstick Pro plugged into my gameport. The Flightstick Pro was not used, it was just there to provide a 'living' joystick on for windows to see otherwise windows will not see the pedals.

Therein lay the answer...  I upgraded from the CH F16-combatstick to the USB, and kept my analog pedals...  Only to find that it don't work that way unless the game supports dual joysticks. :o

To say that I was po'd when I found out that soho motherboards and the thunderbird AMD chipset increased the keyboard clock rate making my CH Pro throttle useless, would be an understatement.
(yes I tried all kinds of things to get the clockrate slowed down, but I just had to bite the bullet.  Then again, there is a member of the 332nd Flying Mongrels that was extremely happy to get my old CH setup, but that is another story)

Anywho, with CH (and I still maintain CH is the BEST product for us WW2 simmers) it's either analog OR USB, but not both. :(

FYI - if you fly jets or spaceships as well as WW2 sims, you might try the COUGAR HOTAS from Thrustmaster.  Not that I can't do what it does with my CH gear, but the Cougar is a little bit less expensive for hands on stick and throttle jockying.
