Yeah, we all have opinions but here's mine. Been thinking about this for two years...
Seperate the ranking catergories.Have 'em on seperate pages. I don't care about bombers, ground vehicles, PT boats, ship guns, etc. And I know guys who prefer to spend most of their time in bombers. I also know some guys who spend most of their time in GV's. I don't want to be a jack-off of all trades to try for a number 1 ranking. I don't have the time, and doubt many others do either. I want to fly my fighter and get some kills. I don't want to fart around in a tank or bomber just so I can climb the ladder.
Make the rankings more fair. Make kills made within X miles (or feet or whatever) of an ememy base worth less points ( .50? ). If the enemy plane is contacting the ground make the kill worth a very low amount of points ( .25? ) unless they're on the refuel pad of course.

.
Point being some guys are really adept at flying in the right situation near a vulched field to get as many kills they can. Is there anything wrong with that? no. But it's not fighter pilot skill that gets them the kills.
Also, if possible, code it so that if there are a large number of enemy planes within X miles of a kill then a kill is worth more.
Make the rankings more visually stimulating. When I flew warbirds I actually checked my score a good bit. I kept an eye on my kill/die and hit percentage.
Deft's page is easy to read, you can check your score in detail using different parameters (yak, avin, etc) I used to spend time on that page just seeing how I compared to other pilots. It's interesting for me to read. Also, it shows the color of the country the pilots fly, maybe we could put the country symbol beside the pilots handle on the AH page?
