anyone remember Bigpac?
« on: December 10, 2002, 01:44:06 PM »
In response to cries for a different arena or something to stop the pack rapes of fields (and come on.. how could you stop these, theyre the result of good organisation, one of the rasion d'etres of AH)..  I would like to suggest that the old air warrior Big Pac be recreated (or at least part of it...

Ive attached a pic of the Hawaii area that we all (all AW-ers at least) remember so well..

aaah... named fields, assymetric islands, mainlands etc etc.

If a talented group could recreate this, would Hitech put it into rotation? would you guys welcome it?
Would it  work?

Hee hee.

Remember the Bz (I was one of those) crying about the Hawaii Gang Bang? I really enjoyed the Big Pac map though I wonder if nostalgia is what it was cracked up to be.

If anything, I REALLY miss the fields with names.

AH bland field numbers just plain suck IMO. Great fights were always much more memorable when the fields had names. Numbers only makes everything too generic and boring.

I can't believe I'm drawing a blank on the guy's name that ran AW up until it demise, but I recall seeing him flying AH when I first got here.  Was it Moggy?

But here is a link to the whole map.  With some mods it might be an interesting addition.

Who can forget the famed battle cry... 'Kill Westy!'

Hehe, it was fun having fields named after players, kinda :)

I already made that suggestion look in the Terrain Editor section on the BBS.

Original idea:

The remake as suggested by others:

Generally the map will not work with AH standards.   How ever if anyone wants to try and make it work, I will gladly send you the terrain file.

Yes,  I have to agree here Midnight...

Feild Names,  No matter how they where named did add a little flavor to things.   Any time you read an AAR you really had a good Idea of the setting.

Id love to see this as an addition someday down the road.  It would be nice in the SEA if nothing else.   Id really rather see name like Biggin Hill, Tangmere, etc...  Rather than A15, A29.

If it is introduced, please change Hahaiwa to Wahiwa and Huanamo to Kaneohe.   I was in Hawaii when BigPac was created and the wrong names used to bug the heck outta me, especially as I was working on MCBH Kaneohe at the time.

It was fun to drop bombs on the location of my house in Makakilo.   It was at the base of the mountain range just to the NW of Ewa.   Was always disappointed when I ran outside after the bomb run I never saw any craters.  (that was back when I could not distinguish between reality and the game).
