Onigiri.

a ball of "sushi" rice wrapped in seaweed with either a mildly sweetsour or just sweet filling in the middle (usually sweet potato or cherry).

I tried it in Japan and been having withdrawal agony ever since.

Best damn snack ever, and healthy too.

Try MRE's.

I recently tried one I got at a surplus store, and it was not bad.  It's like a Happy Meal for grown ups.  Five bucks gets you a cracker and peanut butter or cheese spread, coffee or tea, chocolate mix or koolaid, a decent entree with a chemical heater (that's the fun part), tabasco sauce, candy, and matches and napkins.  I liked it so much I ended up buying a case of 12.  Each one is different from the others.  I eat one on those occassions when the cupboard is bare and everything in the fridge is moldy, and I don't feel like going out to get food.  I also keep one in my car incase I end up stuck on the highway during a blizzard.

I guess anyone who served in the military would be less than enthusiastic about these things, but as a lifelong civilian I think they're a great deal.  :)

Plane cornchips, with a homade dip using green onions, green and red peppers, cream cheese and salsa.

When I need something sweet its ice cream and brownies, with what ever I can find to put on it. "nuts, marshmallow and chocolate sauce..."

I restrict my "snacking" to once a week :)

ra: I was in the USMC for 4 years, and I ate my share of MREs.  I still like them, and always have some on hand.  I keep a few in the car, because you never know when/if you'll need them.
