One thing that I thought would be a great addition and not too much of a headache would be adding the black boxes in the cockpit that control gun charging and arming, gunsight activation and brightness, rocket arming and firing, and bomb release.
I was studying these controls in the Corsair and it was really exciting to me imagining the process of using these devices proficiently. There are two teardrop shaped knobs that you turn 90 degrees and push in to charge and/or clear the guns (port & starboard bays). You have seperate arming switches for choosing the outboard, center, and inboard guns pairs. There is also a master switch covering all guns.
The bomb box was also interesting. Graphics wise, all you would need would be to see the switch being thrown. I think it would add a very real sense of pilot reponsibility. I've read of a number of encounters where pilots entered combat and sighted up on the con only to have their guns not fire. This was not a factor in WB and I think it would add some new brain food to AH as well as a more detailed sense of the reality of air combat.
Of course you would have to create different graphics models for each of the planes in AH since they all didnt share the same technology. Ultimately I think it would prove more educational and fun for the AH clientel as well as yourselves.
Are there any ramifications that might affect the adaptability of this idea in Aces High?
