No, the old arena was the Training Arena.  The advantage of the new Dueling Arena will be obvious if you go in there and look at the map.

Guys, this is something the Training staff has been looking forward to.    The Training Arena is for TRAINING. It's great to have a place for the folks that want to duel, fee for all, and that sort of thing.  Now there is no reason for folks to be furballing at a field, and end up vulching newbies trying to learn how to take off.

I'd like to thank HTC for taking the time to make this happen.  This is a small thing, but I think it helps the community.

Laz, I expect to see you camped out in there from now on...its a furball map. You asked for it, you got it!

hmm... if we had early war planes in it and a way to enforce parity and choice....  Maybe this will be a good arena to test out the "area" concept.

Fact is... if there are numbers there then it will be a great "furball" arena but if there isn't then people won't bother.   I have never seen two arenas work well running at the same time.  . The best efforts of scenerio guys might get 60-100 guys in a special arena for an hour or two while the "regular" arena is running but other than that... If the "furball" arena works too well (attracts too many players) there will be a huge outcry of "ban the furball arena".  Or, make it "relaxed realism" or something bogus to make it useless.

I only had time for a couple of good fights in the new arena last night, and I lost them both, but they were great fights.  They were the types of fights I look for in the MA, but go for days at a time without finding.

Now if it'll only fill up with people in there, and we can get some good furball action going...

I'm not too hopeful, though.    Separate arenas don't do well.  AW Fightertown died a slow death after being moved to its own arena, and I saw other ideas not even take off, because everyone always herds to the most populated arena.

Putting a furball area, dueling areas, and many different terrain choices on the same map was a great idea, though, and it just might make the difference.  Here's hoping

Regardless, I intend to make a point of hanging out in the furball area, and I want to invite everyone to come in and shoot me down!  For a while, you'll only see me in the MA if there's no one to fill me full of lead in the Dueling Arena (DA?)  (well, if I don't get a fighter slot in the scenario, I'll be in the MA practicing ground attack)

AW FT has been rocking the last few weeks. We had 30 in there last night. AH has been in dire need of a FT for months. I look at this as a good thing for AH.
