Boy.. eject..more like wait for the the wings to pull off.. I thought that thing was a sub sonic plane.  Or is this some fluke at sea level.

You can easily put a sub-sonic modern day fighter or bomber past the sound barrier..hell even commercial aircraft can achieve it, just keep the throttle open and point her 20 deg. down :)  (Not recommended for civilian aircraft although technically you can do it.  When flight testing the 727, Tex Johston put the 727 into a mach dive)

A test pilot named "Tex"?  Good grief...

Why not just name himself "moon unit" and take all the mystery away  :)

Thats damn near a household name in this part of the country, and military Aircraft testing cirlces...he was Boeing's chief test pilot for the B-47, B-52, commercial A/C, and several variants that never made service.

Here  he is doing a 1-G roll over Lake Washington during the Hydro-plane races while the Boeing big wigs were entertaining airline customers.  He was NOT cleared to do this, but it sold alot of 707's soon after ;)

Read his book, its very good! Interesting life as a test pilot.
(Editted,wlfgang was right, 1 g, not 0 g. My bad)
