"Check Six" encounter
« on: December 27, 2002, 01:26:06 PM »
I was flying in the MA last night and was attacking an nme base. I lost my right wing and aileron and was limping to the nearest airfield which was under attack. I get a "check six" from a fellow countryman, and when I didn't thank him quick enough, he starts blasting me for being ungrateful. First of all, with all the friendly and nme figs flying every which way, I didn't know who it was as I was using all my concentration trying to keep my F6F level while on  final.  So I bark back at him and he's trying to "call me out" like we can come out of our puters and duke it out.
I always say thank you when I get a "check six" and I know who helped me out. A lot of times I'll just say "thanks to whoever cleared my tail". In this case, I didn't know and was totally concentrating on landing. I figured out who it was a little later, but I'm not putting his name in here as it would serve no purpose.
So, if you don't get a "thank you" when you give a "check six", don't blast that person as there's probably a reason for it.

P.S. Thanks for listening to my vent.

The best thing to do is just ask people to not give you check 6's......they're useless anyhow.

I give as I can, and thanks are not required...however I surely appreciate them returning the favor in the heat of battle some other time.

Dunno, my favorites are still...

1) Folks who plead for a goon/troops...you relent and take one, only to find you are the only one there and multiple cons are closing in on you

or

2) Players complain of no cooperation, multiple desktop generals bashing players for not doing what they deem necessary, etc.  So, someone makes a mission, since we want cooperation, right....and none of the folks pressing the "we must work together" chorus sign on.

Glad ya made it back alive

I give check 6's when I can and never expect to get a thank you for a check 6.

Guys that do should take off their skirts before they log on.

I give check6 in hopes that when i dont see the guy closin my 6 someone warns me.........
Anyon who whines about not getting a TY for givin a check6 should NEVER recieve a check6, just letem die. Infact ignore them completely.
I expected this post to be about the points potatos who give check6 hoping it will make you pull off yer con, giving them a clear shot. This action would be even more unsporting, & IMO would call for staff action (if it could be proven).

It has nothing to do with "strat".

Some people believe you should behave in a very specific way.  If you don't, they procede to act like children in the name of chivalry, honor or something else.  Get used to it... its going to continue happening.

Just be thankfull that its a minority of players that behave this way... unfortunately, a minority is often heard over the majority simply because they chose to yell when they say something.

I give out check sixes, and hope I get em.   I don't expect gratitude becuase I know people are busy - and sometimes yeah I get too busy to say thanks myself.

It never occured to me that anyone would be expecting a "thank you", though yeah I suppose if you have the chance, it would be good manners.

I don't give six calls any longer as I require not only a thank you, but complete and total servitude for the remainder of your online life.

Some people are so ungrateful! Hhhmmmrrrffff!!!

Stony,

Shame on you.  Shame on you for further damaging this emotional cripple by not virtually patting him on the head and letting him know that he was a good boy.  You may have even damaged his tiny ego to a point where he can no longer interact with society; not even through the Intardnet!  Shame on you.
