gonna have to disagree with you there batdog.
sp, cs, mace, pepper spray doesnt really work that well. Plus you are almost guaranteed to feel the effects of it yourself.
These sprays are designed to work (poorly) on someone who is not expecting it. If some dudes are coming to kick your arse in pepper spray will not make a lick of difference.
most sprays have a range of about 8 feet. You have to hit the guy near the head too. If you spray him on the legs or torso it will take about a minute for him to feel any effect in his eyes/throat. Even if you hit him straight in the eyes at the effective range of 8 feet and he is moving towards you with a knife, you are going to most likely get hit. If he has a gun the spray is useless.
Add the fact that these rutabagas wont attack you one on one....might as well throw the cs spray at them and run away really fast.

Dog barks at intruders, position yourself so you are hidden. Click the light on and point it in the face of the intruder (there goes their night vision while you still have yours) turn the light around and bring it down on their collar bone.
Go for their right collar bone too, as most people are right handed. It takes 8 pounds of pressure to break a man's collar bone and you know that they can't wield any weapon after that bone gets broken.
