Rude... your opinion is unfair in one respect: if there is no skill in getting kills and landing them, why don't ALL the D9 and pony pilots have K/d's over 10.0? My point: there is some skill involved in getting and landing kills. The fact that so few FW, La7, and pony pilots have less than spectacular K/D's is indeputable proof of this. Some of the E fighter sticks furball, so we can exclude them... what about the rest? In the entire MA there are less than 15 guys with a K/D of 10.0 or better. If getting and landing kills requires no true skill... why aren't there hundreds over 10.0? I submit that maintaining a very high K/D does take skill, as evidenced by what I've discussed...very few of the hundreds of D9/LA7/Pony sticks have anything approaching that. Now, I agree, a guy that can regularly tangle 1v3 and come out the winner is truly a skilled person...the kind of guy you know you've run into after a couple roundies.
You guys can pound on me all ya like.. I simply see it as evidenced by the lack of K/D's over 10 that landing kills requires skill..albeit different than furballing.
Steve....
Read again pls....I didn't say no skill, I said it had nothing to do with
TRUE ability and skill....big difference.
As to why the D9 and Pony pilots do not have k/d's above 10.0 is very simple and I'll share the truth with ya.....achieving a k/d above 10 and maintaining it through the end of a tour requires not skill, but rather patience and caution...there is a big difference between the two.
Is there any thing wrong with someone flying one of those rides in a manner consistent with history? Absolutely not. However, when I start hearing folks claiming, hey I've got skills because I have a high k/d, I have to shake my head.
I know pilots in the MA who can plain whoop any one of your high k/d pilots. The two styles speak to different sets of attributes....The high k/d pilot is that of patience and conditions....the one I speak of, to raw talent and ability.
