What I mean is... if a guy flies a D9 and has a K/d of... 10 or more.. and a K/T of... whats good?  8? 9? 10?
Must he not be skilled as well as patient/cautious?  Anyone that makes good decisions and  possesses nominal  skill can have a very high K/D, and I think that is a point you were making.  What about the guy in the d9 with respectable/exceptional numbers in all 3(K's /D /T /S)?(Is there anyone doing this?)   Personally, I am unable to achieve this, just not skilled enough.. I see K/T's of over 10 and mentally give the person a nod of respect... I cannot seem to get mine to 8. But... and it's important... I am having fun :)

If you fly a fast plane you can have 10 to 1 ratios easy if you
want to.
Fly something slow and maintain a high kill ratio then I concede you are good.

speed is the cushion of sloppiness.

let's not just point out speed as a cushion...  flying *safe* within mobs (big or small) is as much a cushion for sloppiness as you say speed is.
Surrounded by suck and underwhelmed with mediocrity.
I'm always right, it just takes some poepl longer to come to that realization than others.
I'm not perfect, but I am closer to it than you are.

steve... I think we all agree that it takes a special skill to consitently choose the right fight and prevail... even if the actual "fight" isn't much of a fight.  OTOH... it takes an entirely different skill to prevail in close in combat where the other person(s) know u are there and may have the advantage to start.

More importantly... bragging asside... In either "skill" I think the pilots know which of their fights required skill and which were flukes.

There may be a slight animosity between the two groups..... fueled when one braggs about the abilities.   Probly tho... the B&Zers are the most defensive.   What they do appears.... Timid..  Choosing the best planes in the game to practice their skill also makes their skill look more "plane choice than skill"   being hit by one while busy in a  fight also increases animosity as does simply seeing them circling around above the fight like vultures knowing that they are pretty much untouchable.

most of my fights start with a guy diving in on me in a plane that should be better than mine.   OTOH... a lot of the guys that attack me are new or ... overconfident or inexperianced.    The fog of war allows me to kill easily in a large furball environment filled with a lot of guys not paying attention.

it's all fun tho... I just don't have the patience or focus to be a B&z guy.

Only chance a P-38 has against a Spitfire IX is if you get lucky enough to fight it in a high speed turn fight or in a stall fight.  At high speeds, the P-38 can get inside a Spit IX's turn and the gentle stall characteristics of the P-38 give it a slight edge in stall fights.  Not saying these are 100% sure fire ways of shooting down a Spitfire IX but just two tactics that might give you a chance to survive against one.

RWY was always my most feared pilot, he would hand me my arse in his P-51 every time. I remember when i was in the 56th FG and we were on a mission at 30k and we saw 2 P51's coming in in formation.....ammo and I were shot down in a matter of minutes as RWY outmaneuvered and shot us down.  He was definately the best pony pilot IMO....what ever happened to him?
