No way a house cat can overtake a deer, even if it is a fawn.

That cat is overmodeled.

Paws on asphalt have more grip than hooves, the cat can accelerate better, and the deer may not have an immediate sense of urgency as it must be somewhat used to living in an urban environment.  The photo doesn't show relative speeds and as the deer gets up to full speed, the cat probably gave up the chase shortly after the pic was taken.
Everyone I know, goes away, in the end.

Cat's will chase just about anything that runs away from them.  They love to pounce on receding objects.

That cat ain't no popsicle.  He hunts deer during the day, and watches old "Baywatch" reruns at night.

No the real point you all missed is  ' why are they both running '
The answer is that JOC is chasing both of them with that lustfull look in his eyes and a weapon in his hands !!
Maybe he'll get arrested for assault with a friendly weapon.

That cat is overmodeled.>

Are you taking in the fact that the cat in anticipation of the deer's move, has already applied right full rudder and is working towards the angle for a snapshot? Note the rear legs ..obviously the cat has just hit wep and is ready to perform a roll if required. The cat isn't overmodeled, just a superior attack force using its designed performance abilities to its fullest..
