The ONLY reason to suicide - AAR
« on: January 08, 2003, 10:01:24 PM »
... should be to recover your cv from the dweebs that hide it and you shouldnt have to do that! When I logged into the host today the bishops had all of their fields back but cv54 was missing and everyone was so interested in resetting the host that I couldnt get any answers as to where it might be. After checking all of the forward fields I made a trip to the far reaches of knights main island but did not find our cv. Then Hammy and I tried it from the other direction and then we found it way down in sector 5,5. So I grabbed a lanc with a lot of fuel and slowly made my way back south at fifty feet. Another mission came up and nearly passed me by when they got bounced by higher knights intent on preventing our reclaiming the fleet. Further south a con passed overhead but for some reason did not notice me and I made it to the cv. Luckily no one was manning the guns as I had my sights set for a 1k drop on a north to south heading and when I popped up to 1k I was imediately into the ack. 39000 pounds of bombs took care of the rest.

Alas it was all for nothing and a needless death because HT reset the server thirty minutes later. :(

I can understand withdrawing a fleet to safety if the situation calls for it but hiding the fleet is pretty stupid.  Last night when the Knights had all their available fleets, one twit was hiding CV20 and wouldn't let anyone grab control.

Humm... when I logged in the above mentioned CV was hidden in the 5.5 sector... But I'm sure I have seen it steaming into the action again later in the evening... well prolly someone sent it back to "safety" after i loged out... Well such people exist no matter what side you play for I guess....

Obviously Voss has never been part of the "Secret Society" whereas we ask participants in the other countries if indeed the CV is being hidden, and where the location is.  Been working fine for 4 years.

Just ask Voss, I shall disclose! Of course, I expect the same in return on a future date too. ;)

It is a valid tactic to keep it from the enemy.  Though putting a cv off in some far outter corner is silly.  I have no problem at all with people using the captured CV's as additional homeland defense in key areas or to extend radar coverage, maybe even by placing them appropriately near the home area (but not behind it).

I remember, I noticed this hiding CV, took control of it, and set a course toward an enemy base, after 5 minuts, someone (more high in ranks) took control of the TF and set the "hiding loop" again.

I dont want to say the name (I am not completely sure I remember correct), btw if I knew (or imaginated) that the fleet was a hiding fleet.....

where I can subscribe an association to the secret society?

Naso, just private channel a Vet (Beta--V1.04'ish) in the country that owns the port. Thats the Secret Society.  Make sure you ask for return favor in the future. ;)

Just so everyone is clear on this when I am using a fleet in one area I cannot turn a hidden fleet back to the front as you can only command one fleet at a time. However I will continue to thwart efforts to hide cvs by using them in forward areas and if someone continues to attempt to hide a cv and not use it while I am busy in another sector I will steer it directly at the enemy and then go afk for a beer. Im sick of this stuff. Use it or lose it.

Thanks Vulcan Rip etc  but its much more fun hunting them up on your own. It would be nice if you could twist the arm of the higher ranks in your country not to allow hidden cvs more then two sectors from the front. There are certain dweebs

How do you get that close to an enemy CV that low and not get shot down before dropping?

I fly near CVs all the time and they pop you with the yellow tracers miles before you can drop in a bomber.

I get shot at 6000 feet.

Brendo I was in the tower when I received the kill message but had I come over the cruiser I would not have made it to the cv.

Ripsnort is correct.

I know that if I were contacted regarding a hidden CV that an enemy owns the port too, I'd look at the CV and if it was simply being removed from the game I'd tell the enemy were it was being hidden.
