I don't know how the scoring will be done, but if it should strictly depend on the success of the assigned mission, that brings out a whole lot of interesting points to consider. :)

For all we know, HT says 10 points are given out on a successful mission. I'd like to assume that means no points if your assigned mission was a failure. (maybe additional scores for kills achieved, only when mission is successful?)

Start off from 2nd Lt. with 500 points... reach 1st Lt. at 1000 points.. that means, you'll need at least 50 successful missions without any deaths to get to the next rank! Sounds like a real challenge to us average guys :)

I have liked Stankerous' suggestion best so far:

Aces High: Combat Career  (AHCC)
it goes nicely with
Aces High Classic  (AHC)

"U gonna play C or double-C tonight?" :)

--------------------

One more suggestion based on its role-playing approach:

AAH .... Advanced Aces High  :)

---------------------

Then some thoughts.
has there been any consideration how this career play suits to existing Squadrons???

-Can squadmated fly together in career mode or does one just get listed on some unit?

-Do the higher ranking (in career) players lead the organized action or can the existing squadron manners and ways be used?

"Aces High: Tour of Duty" was the first thing I thought of (like a lot of other people lol)

Going along with the "duty" concept, how about,

"Aces High: A Call to Arms"

Everything else has been covered I think lol.

Aces High: Death or Glory

Aces High: Your finest Hour
"Willy's gone and made another,
Something like it's elder brother-
Wing tips rounded, spinner's bigger.
Unbraced tailplane ends it's figure.
One-O-nine F is it's name-
F is for futile, not for fame."

most the other names sound a bit too  AH:cheesy

Definatley:

Aces high : Classic
Aces High : Tour of Duty

As for renameing the present TOD, will it survive with the mission theatre there anyway?

BTW i'm called 'BLANK' because I couldn't even think of a CPID,  so I'm not the best to ask anyway.   :D

You smell that? Do you smell that?
Napalm, son. Nothing else in the world smells like that.
I love the smell of napalm in the morning.
The smell, you know that gasoline smell, smelled like victory.

I have serious issues with a scoring system designed this way.  If you lose 100 points for dying, but you lost nothing for utterly failing your mission objectives, players will exhibit unrealistic flying styles.

In other words, flying to live will become the single most important thing in the game, even more important than fulfilling mission objectives or protecting the lives of others.  Players would be more likely to cut and run than help out wingmen under such a system; they could abort potentially dangerous missions early and easily.  It would also benefit those who use fellow countrymen as "chum."  And since such behavior would be rewarded (or at least not penalized), those who practice it would be those who advance in rank and wield control and influence over others.

Just my early thoughts anyway.
