Goodbye all :(
« on: November 15, 2001, 06:31:00 AM »
I just thought I'd say goodbye to you all, today I closed my account...<sniff>.. Over the last few months life has been kinda busy/messy and I haven't been able to get in any stick time. Next Friday I move from sunny Australia to chilly Oxford UK for 12 months on a working holiday (aint that a squeak :)) and don't think I'll be setup for flying for awhile. I just want to say thanks to friends and foe who have helped me laugh and at times fill my shorts ;)in what would have to be the coolest WW2 sim I've ever come across ...a salute to you all  :)

I'd also like to say a  big thank you to the hitech team, your sim kicks bellybutton !

Maybe I catch up with some of you in the UK, I hope to make it to the Duxford air show in the summer and will keep my eye on the msg boards.

"Next Friday I move from sunny Australia to chilly Oxford UK for 12 months on a working holiday "

Good luck Laika! Hoep to 'see' you here again soon.

Oh. Eat only very well cooked food (watch the "boiled" stuff) and don't drink the water!

  ;)

Duxford will be worth the trip, though.

I managed to go to Duxford quite a bit when I lived in England in the early '80s.  By the time I made my last visit in '89 the site had been improved even more.

Enjoy the adventure, and, fate willing, we'll see you on again in a year or so. :-)

I am sure AH and most of us will still be here when you get back. I will take care of your stuff and your footlocker. Please be sure and leave me the keys to your aircraft. I can use a refrigerator for my cold supplies eg. beers etc.
Be well <S>  :)

Buggerit Laika,

We flew together in WB for I can't remember how long, and now you leave the West Island and head for Pomgolia.  Remember it's going to be winter over there and unlike Western Australia where water comes out of a bore in the ground, in England it comes out of the sky, (yep sounds strange don't it?).  They even have several names for the different types.  R-a-i-n is the liquid one that's like a spray of beer when you crack the top of a stubbie, (only lasts about 8 months of the year then they switch to S-n-o-w for the other 4 months of the year.  S-n-o-w is that soft white stuff like the time the chiller at the Swan factory exploded.

Anyways have fun and drop us a line when you get there.  I still have a pics of me and you chasing down a P51 in 109K4's with only a few MG rounds left and the Ugly Duckling raids trying to sucker the golds into attacking a "defenceless lone bomber" =)

You'll hate Oxford after the first month (if you don't have access to student facilities)of looking at the pretty buildings.

Once you get over that, and realise that without an SU card you'll miss most of the "life" of the town, you'll be very glad you're only 40 minutes from London.

One other thing - the country side around Oxfordshire is lovely, some mode of transport should be your #1 priority (English public transport is run by EA.com)
