France has oil...they get it from Iraq.  They have many business dealings with Iraq and put their own business dealings over the lives of the Iraqi people and in fact, the world.  Maybe France can build Hussein another Nuclear Plant.  It's actually "no war for oil" and this is well known.  France a "peace loving people"... har!

I found the French to be very hospitable and gracious, all over the country from Normandy to Nice. I'd go so far as to say they are nicer and more patient to tourists than us Americans.

So I'm dreaming the French have large business interests in Iraq and thus why they are against freeing an enslaved and often murdered population?  Dang, now I kinda wish Hitler was still dancing in France and see your opinion on the matter then.  Or am I dreaming that I want the French to build Iraq another nuclear facility...that I do not want, trust me.  Ther Germans aren't much better, but what makes them worse is that they made David Hasselhof a rock-&-roll star.

And when US arms companies were selling weapons to Saddam in the 80s to prop up his clearly repressive regime, that was all fine and dandy?

Of course, US companies can do no wrong. Even when it comes to selling chemical and biological weapons to patently tyrranical leaders of totalitarian Middle Eastern states.

I find this sudden deep sympathy with the Iraqi people hilarious. As if suddenly we're discovered they were being repressed, and if suddenly the weapons we (and I include the UK) sold in the 80s are irrelevant.

He wasn't a nice guy back then, either.

Operation Condor?  Nope, I can't recall what that is.

My point is that it's so easy to say the USA is going to war when it's not that simple (and really isn't even the case.)  To be just as simplistic, you can say the French are trying to prevent the USA freeing the peoples of Iraq because the French do want their oil (all their business interests come over the people of Iraq.)  Your simplistic point about saying France has no oil so we won't war with them for that reason rubbed me wrong.

Once again, big mean ol' USA never has any intentions other than evil.

ROTFLMAO

You guys dont have a clue about France do you?

The French are pacifist, do you know what that word means, thats why they dont want to go to war. Not because of silly econmic links to iraq. The french cant buy oil from iraq because iraq isnt selling any.

Dowding I agree about the sudden sympathy for the Iraqis from US. Its BS. Bush doesnt give a rat arse about the iraqui people.
