Every time I drive by that place with my wife, I look over at her and ask "Did you fart?" . :D

I can't quite figure out why you'd work in Albany and commute from Portland.  The only reason I don't live down that way is that its too hard to find decent employment in the area.

the job was only 8 months long (longest I've ever worked in one spot).  I'd move about 15 times a year if I relocated for every job.

as far as the smell of a pulp mill, it's just a matter of perspective-  to me they smell like a hand-full of sweaty hundred dollar bills.

If all you wanted was a handfull of sweaty 100 dollar bills, you could work down-town Portland;)

My brother lives near Camas.  I've never really had a problem with the smell.  The only time I notice it is when I'm driving on I-5 and experience the extreme difference of going from no sulfer to sulfer.

I'd still live down that way if I could.  I love the rural Salem/Aurora/Eugene areas.  Well outside of the towns, that is.

haven't got much work in the portland area.  we used to get alot of work out of camas, but not for the last couple years (it's comming back there though)  thats about as close to working at home as it gets for me.

in 15 years I've only got about 35 hours worth of work out of westlinn and Oregon city (the 2 closest mills to the house)

not much boiler work downtown though.

Cubicles don't appear to be so common here.

Both places where I've been to interviews have basically had desks without walls and computers everywhere.

The culture here of course is 'open door' and casual, meaning you can pretty much talk to anyone at any time. Some Americans that were visiting were said to be amazed, since the corporate culture in the US is much more formal.

Cubicle is just another word for 'evil'.

Apathy, thats a cool office!

Yeager, hope things work out for you :(

MiniDork, I figured you'd be in here to get a shot in on me, so predictable.

StSanta, these cubes are "open", this picture represents it alittle better.

There you go predicting things after they happen again.  Its quite the trend with you.

And you may notice someone else said the same thing a few posts later rippy.

Ah good Rip. It doesn't make sense to not have 'em semi open from a productivity/innovations POV.
