A Change of Heart
« on: February 03, 2003, 09:21:26 AM »
Due to some issues in the MA of late, I wandered into the CT(second time since it's birth).

The first thing I noticed was the feel of the current map was great...visually, it gave a whole new shot in the arm to the experience.

Secondly, I'm finding good fights....fun ones where you can get after it in 3v3's and not have 30 nme drop in on your head.

Lastly, the numbers need to grow...80 last night made for good fun and fights, but more choices would be better.

To any of you that have never been to the CT, try it....to those of you who have tried it and did not like it, at least go check out this map...it is very cool.

Now this business about the best pilots fly in the CT, well, let's just say it's not true:)

Hey quit spreading Rumors about the CT :)....Jeez..its nice and peaceful in there... Or at least it was till the last couple of weeks!
They last 2 maps have been great, the early war plane sets are alot of fun.... And there isn't LA-7's and Spit9's everywhere, which is the biggest plus...It forces players to give up the LA-7 crutch on the limited plane sets... And best of all no pizza map....:)

My main complaint with the CT continues to be, poor communication.  It could be a lot easier to find a fight, and avoid chasing friendly dots, if people would communicate more.

Otherwise, I had some good times there over the weekend.  Although, it's hard to get used to swastikas on my FM2.

Wasn't too long ago that "80" in the Main Arena meant it was Friday night....CT brings back memories of a smaller, more gentlemanly AH

I found that the fights were a lot easier to survive than the MA.   I was lucky and found the spotwhere the fights were.   I certainlly wouldn't want to fly the ct when numbers were less than 70 or so tho.   I also feel that the plane set would get old really quick.   Rather have a little variety...

in short... if you are being attacked close to your field by less than overwhelming odds then it is fun..  I did chase some dots and visit a deserted field.... wasted time...  I also fought over scraps... 5 guys on one con was normal nothing different from the MA... I got no "nostalgia" feel in there...  The players did not seem to have even as high an average skill level as the ma but seemed less aggressive.

I found it to be very much like the pizza map in the ma.... if you get lucky and find a pocket of activity then it is a blast but.... like the pizza.... it is akin to winning the lottery.

I think the RPS would work great in the CT.

actually when funked was a cm they set up an rps for the CT.

Its been tried and it brought in no more numbers then were there previously.

The number 1 draw to the CT has been the maps. Theres been a host of different settings etc............

A good playable map even offsets some of the poorer plane match ups.

and therein lies the dilema..... If you insist on the "allied vs axis" thing... you get crappy matchups to go along with your lack of variety.    About the only time there was parity in WWII was the BOB and you can't do that every day.
