NVidia suffered a couple of setbacks. They gambled on being able to get .13 done in time and lost.
They also, apparently, were caught completely off guard with the R300.
Unfortunately, due to design cycles, they will not be able to get back into the speed race until about November this year.
The NV35 vs R400 will be a good one. NVidia now knows ATI can get high performance parts done and ATI knows they know. Should be a good battle between these two parts.
Oh,..any video technology you buy today will be outdated in 6 months. I have had my 9700Pro for about 5 months, and I don't think I have anything to pine about.
I knew the R350 and RV350 were coming in March when I bought my 9700Pro, so it doesn't phase me. My plan was to buy the R300, then R400, thus giving me a year between video card purchases.
I doubt much will happen in the gaming industry to make my 9700Pro strain before the end of the year.
