I see lots of posts complaining about lack of sideslip drag.  While I agree there is a major problem with the lift, there is plenty of drag.  Take the P-51, It will only fly at 175 mph with the rudder deflected (at full power!).  Tell me there's no drag there?  

On the approach, 130 ias, idle power, full flaps, rate of descent was about 2700 fpm.  That's falling like a brick as it is, considering a 'normal' approach with 25" Hg gives -500 fpm, and that's not enough for you?  You need to drop faster, slow down faster?  Then I deflected the rudder and maintained 130 ias, rate of descent was off the gauge, more than 4000 fpm!!  

I think the problem is in the landing technique, not any flaw in sideslip drag.

Nope, the yaw is broken    Seriously, in the current version the yaw setup is pretty messed up.  It's due for some tweaks in a soon-to-be-released patch according to Pyro.

I agree with Wells here. Proper approach and landing techniques are in order. I havn't found enough of a difference in my normal approaches for it to be a factor.

In RL, and I am not the ultimate expert by any means but I do have some instruction in real planes, tail draggers as well as nose gear types, I find I can't approach a field at full tilt and still expect to make a correct landing without some pre-planning. I slow while in the pattern and make my approach. It works fine for me anyway

The problem is when you enter a slip from 250 mph or higher to slow down to approach speed Wells, try that and see what happens. Once you are down to approach speed the a/c seems to react and handle appropriately. We'll see tomorrow what it looks like.

It's like you can't get full deflection on the rudder above 200-250 mph.

I have noticed tho that if you drop the RPM and MAN that you will slow quickly from 325 to 250-200.  At that speed in a hog I can deploy gear(dive brakes   ) and a couple of notches of flaps.  Rudder doesn't seem to slow as much as before at this point but at least I can get slowed down enough to land  

But the key seems to lower RPM when you lower MAN to get slowed down fast enough  
Without lowering RPM I really notice that I just can't get the speed down very fast.

Now that is strange Rocket, because when you lower RPM you are reducing the angle of the prop blades, or reducing the bite they take of the air (reducing prop drag). This should allow you to maintain more speed. Leaving the prop at full RPM and reducing MAN pressure should make you lose speed faster than by reducing both.

Quakers !    ruder ar not made for slow down the plane so learn real  landing aproach  and not the way what wa before the zom ruder abs break !
